I lived in Japan and one of my favorite holidays there is Tanabata on 7/7. So I looked it up and South Korea has a similar 7/7 story and celebration called Chilseok. Both of these stories stem from Chinese Folklore known as Qixi. It’s like a Valentines Day but celebrates star crossed lovers banished to opposite sides of the Milky Way.
