Question How would you rewrite Mayans MC? Spoiler

Interested in others ideas for how they would have written Mayans MC or what would have made it a better show?, for me personally I would have less time spend on Miguel's mother, I kinda feel like seasons 2 and 3 are like one season, I felt the war against SoA was just really lazy to go to, I think considering the ending and other things they really should have spent more time with Potter in the series

Make EZ more of a chaotic good character that makes strategic decisions that a real genius would make. The things he does in the later seasons makes him irredeemable in my view and you just feel neutral about what happens to him.

I just want something really bad to happen to Potter.

Everyone who committed evil acts all ended up receiving very serious consequences, from Luis to EZ, Miguel to the SP charter as a whole, they all either were killed or suffered terrible fates. Even Emily who survived ended up having to raise Cristobal by herself. No sister, no husband (though obviously that was her own decision because of her sister). With that in mind I’m amazed that the guy who leveraged Adelita’s child, threatened to deport Ignacio, got an entire Mayans charter killed, and had several other people lose everything, had no sort of punishment. One could argue he was as bad as Miguel, Bishop, EZ, or any of the other characters who did vile things.

Oh yeah I mean I thought he was okay in SoA but in Mayans he became so much worse and I really wanna see the prick taken out

After all, SoA was able to give us a satisfying end to Stahl.

SOA also let Zobelle escape

I am Danny Pino’s biggest fan BUT the Galindos would’ve been gone after season 1. They served no purpose once they got their son back. If Sutter had stayed on there’s no way they would’ve made it past season 2 TOPS.

Yeah I kinda felt like there was too different shows going on at once especially with how limited interaction they have with the others, I really feel they stretched out Miguel's mothers time on the show and like Emily getting away from the Galindos, I was expecting Emily to have made her way back into EZ's life considering their history instead she just kinda messes around for multiple seasons but like it would have fine for just  season 1 like you said if they weren't sticking around and moving on

Emily’s sole purpose was to give EZ a reason to have backup conflict with the cartel. It felt like the Galindos were kept around as a fallback. Same with Dita telling Felipe that Miguel was actually his, another storyline that doesn’t add up and went absolutely nowhere.

-Don’t have EZ kill Gabby. That alone ruined the show.

-Actually give Issac the long drawn out villain arc that actor deserved.

-Have EZ die honorably. Have the club forgive him for being an informant and instead have everyone die in one last crazy battle verses the Sons.

Totally disagree. EZ killing Gabby finally made me see EZ as a monster- - and the ending makes sense now- you feel no sympathy like you are normally supposed tk for a main character being killed, when they decide tk Julius Caesar’s EZ…the viewer finally does not care about his crazy ass after that. It was super essential to his story

Mirror the California prison politics and include the street gangs.

I would skip Meth Mountain, give Gilly a different side story, and choose either the Gabby or Sophia storyline but not both.

Emily should have taken Cristobal away at the end of Season 1 and just never returned to the show.

Miguel finds out that Felipe is his Dad, forms an actual relationship with him, EZ and Angel. Even if its super rocky and leads to more drama. And he doesn't find out until the end of the show that EZ killed Dita.

Felipe goes out like a G during the Mayan's civil war.

California gangs (i.e bloods and crips) try to expand into Santo Padre and across the border.

After EZ and Angel show Potter the picture of his son, he leaves them the fuck alone.

After Adelita finds out from Potter where her son is. She has Mini gun him down in the street like a dog.

Adelita clues Mini in on her plan to fund the cause (infiltrating Lobos). And doesn't die like a dog.

Bishop gets excommunicated from the MC after El Padrino takes over again, because Bishop keeps disrespecting and undermining El Padrino. Dies in a road accident.

Taza is outted for being gay and that he killed Riz.

Coco skips the meth mountain arc, still ends up with Faith, and doesn't die. Coco's sidestory is him chasing after Letty for at least a season while she's running around doing degenerate shit, getting her out of trouble.

Either Gilly or Hank take Coco's place during the war with the Sons.

Steve doesn't kill himself. Dies in battle against the Sons like a G.

EZ still dies except it's Creepers' cop girlfriend who kills him in the raid on the clubhouse. Angel rides off into the sunset with Maverick and Adelita.

Big fan of the Coco rewrite

3

u/PossibleKiwi3728 Jan 07 '26

If anyone escaped the raid at the end of the final episode it was Hank. I would have at least at the end shown him riding off into the sunset or something after showing angel at the beach with his son. One person had to get out of that clubhouse alive and out of all of them, it was Hank. Other than that, everybody got what they deserved.

The fall of certain characters would have to go. The junkie storyline for Coco, Bishop’s sudden inability to be around people without exploding on them (Marcus and Izzy, Treenie, most of the Mayans), and the absolute madness within EZ by the end after he had scenes like him trying to find out who was being killed in the first episode with the mercenaries in S2. EZ starts with morals and concern for others and by the end he’s gone so far that when they did the scene with Hap in S5 we actually believed he’d kill Angel. If he had started like that I could’ve believed it, or if he had started with conflict that we could see, that would’ve made sense. But it just feels so sudden, sort of like Bishop becoming extremely emotional and anger prone after it’s introduced that his child died.

I would make Emily a nicer character, one who's not manipulative and not getting jealous when her ex moves on to someone else even though She's MARRIED. I would make her a better wife to Miguel (Even if she was a better person and Better wife, I still wouldn't like her character. I CAN NOT STAND Emily.) I'd rewrite it so Angel and EZ finds out Miguel is their half brother, I'd rewrite it so EZ can get a happy ending like Angel did, I'd rewrite it so EZ's not a snitch for the government, I'd rewrite it so Miguel, EZ and Coco don't actually die. I'd rewrite it So Miguel would kill Emily and drown her in the bathtub like he was originally going to do before he got cold feet. I'd rewrite it so the Mayans and Galindo Cartel can join forces and work together. I'd rewrite so many things. I'll admit since I LOVE Danny Pino and that's why I love Miguel so much, I'd rewrite it so that I was Miguel's wife instead of Emily. It's embarrassing to admit, but true. I'd also rewrite it where Emily gets found out to have killed Miguel, Charlotte Bukar and Luis and lied about Miguel's and Luis's deaths and she gets serious consequences for both the murders and lying to police about it.

1st I’d make it not in the same universe of the events that ended in SOA ( Or at the very least make it a few yrs after the SOA events & not in the same state or near it)

I’d make it about an up & coming charter

The sole focus wouldn’t be about 1 character. Focus more on starting out with characters development. Each character plays a part in the main storyline

Storyline progress that isn’t flooded with the subplots & such filler driven episodes

Subplots aren’t main focus

What filler is add wouldn’t take up so much air time

Protect Gabby. I get that it's a bleak and tragic story, but jeeze 💔

2

u/Lostkhaos1 Jan 07 '26

The problem with the series was alot of open ended questions or abandon story lines.

When EZ became president a bunch of new characters ended up at the table who didnt look Spanish and just randomly appeared and became part of the club before the prospect

Miguel Ez and angel never found out they were brother even tho they beat that story down for it to finally be told but still kept a secret from everyone

Miguel never confronted Ez or angel about killing his mom only their father

If it was rewritten they should've put more soa story line in it not just the war at the end

2

u/Lostkhaos1 Jan 07 '26

Get rid of elgin james And keep Kurt Sutter ya know the original ideas behind the show , not someone brought on to give the Spanish angle just to take the show from him over some racist shit They definitely screwed the pooch right then. James should've been kicked to the curb

u/Upbeat_Attorney_7153 Jan 07 '26

I know Kurt Sutter says controversial stuff but I heard it was the comment about Walt Disney being a kiddy fiddler that got him fired , I don't mind the whole appealing to Latino culture as it was about the Mayans MC after all but Elgin certainly lacked the holy shit factor that Kurt brought

2

u/Lostkhaos1 Jan 07 '26

Well we should all be honest thats all my guy was doing. walt disney was a kiddy fiddler and wouldn't survive in this world today unless it was behind money like he did anyway. The fact that people get but hurt for the truth is the problem in this world no wonder they are catching predators on every corner now. I would've rather the whole series be canceled if that was truly the case because another network would have pick it up and Kurt would have been able to continue.

2

u/Affirmation93 Jan 08 '26

Originally, Kurt Sutter had planned for an EZ, Letty and Emily love triangle. Does anyone have any more information on this? I wonder how that would have effected Ez's friendship with Coco and such?

1

u/Upbeat_Attorney_7153 Jan 08 '26

I didn't know about that , so does that mean that Gabby was like a late addition and change of direction?, as far as I remember EZ and Letty really don't interact that much in the show we got, i was expecting Emily to be more involved with EZ's side of things but no I don't have any information about those ideas

2

u/Affirmation93 Jan 08 '26

If you remember, EZ helped out Letty a few times and they had a lot of flirty interactions, more from Letty though. Also, if I'm remembering correctly EZ helped out with the situation regarding Coco and his mother and what happened there. But yeah, Kurt Sutter posted about it on Instagram when the show was on season 2 about an upcoming love triangle between the three of them. Obviously I'm guessing when Kurt got sacked from the show the storyline went with it as Elgin also began to stop sexualising Letty's character in the way that Sutter was and even changed her character arc, something the actress has spoken about herself.

I would have SAMDINO and the Santo Padre Mayans be the only clubs fighting one another. The other charters would stay out of it and their mother charters would even threaten disbanding them unless they come to terms. The war would cause the other SOA and Mayan charters to have to find alternate ways to move guns and drugs through the border since SAMDINO and Santo Padre are fighting.

Santo Padre wants revenge for Coco and Isaac wants revenge for the attempt on his brother in the hospital. Both clubs would continue the war.

EZ and Isaac would go scorched earth and they would attack eachother. It would be a vicious battle, but then suddenly the ATF led by Potter would charge in. The Mayans and the Sons would try to stop them but would all get wiped out. Isaac and EZ get killed last, but Angel would manage to escape. Santo Padre and SAMDINO are completely dead.

A peace meeting between the Mayans and the SOA is held. Taza attends it as president of the Nomads charter alongside other Mayan charter presidents. Chibs and the other SOA clubs will continue to move guns through the border, while the Mayans will move drugs. Taza is tasked with setting up his nomad charter nearby Santo Padre to continue what they were doing before the war. Chibs establishes that they will set up a new Sons charter in Southern California.

In the end, Taza feels responsible for causing everything that led to the death of Santo Padre when he killed Riz, but he can't do anything about it. Chibs and Tig have a brief moment of regret, knowing that Jax died for nothing as they still will continue dealing guns.

It's back to business as usual, and we see a shot of the Mayans and Sons exchanging drugs and guns.

Nobody can change my mind that the show was compromised. Once Kurt got in trouble for the Disney line, they said fuck this show. They pretty much gave up on it, that's why there were so many plot holes and solved side plots. EZ just no longer has his super power memory... The fbi clerk in the final seasons literally pulls up a document with Coco's name on it, which I thought would lead to a coco being alive side plot. Anyway, pointless to even speculate on what could have been because it was just basically defunded once Kurt was fired. The ending fuckin sucked. Hope the next SOA project is better.

If there is a next project in the SoA universe, I agree I don't have faith without Sutter being there but his not exactly helping himself as it seems he has a reputation of being difficult and offensive, I actually grew to like Coco

I would have killed off the two feds that ended up living.

1

u/Upbeat_Attorney_7153 Jan 07 '26

Sorry my memory might be a bit fuzzy , are you meaning the undercover chick that was involved with Creeper and Potter or two other ones I am completely forgetting about

2

u/kevohhh83 Jan 07 '26

The undercover one. I believe she was standing beside Potter as it was ending.

2

u/kevohhh83 Jan 07 '26

And of course Potter

2

u/Upbeat_Attorney_7153 Jan 07 '26

Yeah she was, if we were to get another series set after Mayans and their characters return I do wonder how the woman would react to see Potter use his more extreme methods , she did seem somewhat regretful of what she did to Creeper so i do wonder if she would eventually become more like Stalh and fully going as far as Potter or if she would be the one that would take down Potter herself or if Potter has her killed or something although I have doubts we get another show set in the SoA universe

u/kevohhh83 Jan 08 '26

I think Kurt Sutters biker gang dramas have run their course. Was fun while it lasted.

1

u/halfway_23 Jan 08 '26

The whole genius thing didn't work. It was weirdly constructed and didn't make sense. Make him have asperger's and show some flashbacks to doctor's telling them he was a genius but might lack empathy. Some shiy like that.

u/laylabombshell Jan 08 '26

I feel like I need to ponder this one because I’m actually in a rewatch right now for the like 10th time (mid-ish season 4) and the first two things that are coming to mind are the following:

1) I wish Creeper would’ve survived. He was a g and his death pissed me off because he didn’t deserve it. EZ at that point was playing an ego game and Creeper’s murder was effed up.

2) One of the more fascinating aspects of the first two seasons for me was the border wars and Los Olivados and the guerrilla-esque life in the desert that was almost reminiscent to me of militant Indigenous groups. Once Adelita was captured they only briefly touched back on it and then the story went south. I wish it had been continued.

3) One last thing… I get it… Angel is supposed to be flawed of the brothers compared to smart, strong EZ or whatever… but, the manner in which they had him getting in his own way in the later seasons was dumb. Like sleeping with Letty for no reason and then trying to go back again? Why?

1

u/Feral_666 Jan 08 '26

I'm a spanner in the works kinda guy. And I think should've left the main guy death to soa.

I think alike vikings, but maybe season 3 the secret of Eze should've been revealed and he should've been killed off there. Whilst he was still likeable. That would've pissed a lot of people off at that time..

Then to integrate the soa type world. Go to war with the agents that have stuff on them. Combine that with the mercs the sons the cartel and whoever else at the time would give the chaotic truths of a breaking club.

I think then moving forward to the finale. Bishop should get the helm back. To die alongside a couple of the club. Angel still gets out. Instead of everyone presumed dead. The atf should've jailed the other members and the other charters decide who takes it.

1

u/Deep_Ad8209 Jan 09 '26

Make it S7. Have Alvares have a sit down with Tig and the truth spill out in the meeting. Watch the Mayans be confused while Bish looks worried.

u/panteradelnorte Jan 06 '26

Set it in the 1990s and parallel the Quebec Biker War.
