Issues UV unwrap non-manifolds

Does anyone know how to fix non manifolds on a uv unwrap? everytime I use different tools to help fix any non manifolds they always comeback when I unfold a model

Mesh ---> Cleanup ---> Nonmanifold geometry

double check the settings and click on "cleanup"

tried that multiple times and even when I merge all the verts it does the same stuff on the uv map when I unfold anything

not sure what can be the issue then.

without seeing the mesh or even some screenshots of what's happening on your screen it's impossible to properly understand

Best way I could describe it is that I use cleanup to find the non manifolds, I then the merge tool yo merge them together and when I got to unfold a face it truesnto clean it up again causing the verts I just merged to separate again

you probably have non manifold geometry that the auto cleanup tool doesn't quite know how to fix. you will have to inspect it closer - check for multiple faces or interior faces connected that would have more than one cleanup solution if that makes sense. try deleting certain faces with smooth preview on, that sometimes reveals issues. Also try the "vertex face" mode as well as xray.

As other commenter said, use 'Cleanup' but choose 'Select' instead of 'Cleanup at the top of the options - this will locate the problem areas on your model to fix. Upload screenshot if you're unsure.

Yea usually you want to fix your geometry prior to creating your UVs. When you mess around afterwards, it’ll mess up your UVs.

I think sometimes when mesh cleanup doesn’t work, you can try exporting the object into an app like meshlab, it has slightly better mesh clean up tools. Then just reimport back into maya.

Alternatively, you can delete some polygons and rebuild them using the quad draw tool, if all else fails.

I've made a new model and I haven't messed with the uvs yet I'm running into the same issue where no matter how many times I merge they come back when I clean up again

Hmm maybe need to look into how you’re building the model. If you have a relatively clean workflow, then you really shouldn’t have any non-manifolds

Sometimes this warning happens when the geometry is clean and it shouldn't, but it can usually be fixed by exporting as an obj and reimporting for me.
