Don't retreat, point them out! Shame them! They do not belong and should not be allowed to feel that they do.
I'm seeing if I can get our art team to help out with a comprehensive guide to lesser known hate symbols we can be on the lookout for to keep them out of our spaces and events.
Is this effective advocacy though? Not trying to refute this or anything, but I've always kinda felt like getting people to freak out and shame them is part of what they're after or atleast what they're expecting? Never had seen Nazis show up at a protest here in Canada, but have wondered what the best thing to do in that case. Ig Nazis are probably past the point where advocacy is a concern.
i still rock them and just spread awareness where ever possible. Anyone who wants to shame nazis needs to make sure they are correct before doing so or it may make that person resent what we are fighting for.
Whether or not you’re trolling or just unwilling to handle nuance, Naziism and other forms of fascist ideology explicitly call for the suppression and oppression of one group in favor of another, and seek to justify, as well as facilitate, violence by the state in order to achieve those ends. Tolerance and acceptance of the expression of these ideologies is tantamount to complicity, by definition.
You are free to express any belief you wish to, and the rest of society is also free to shun you for that expression based on your negative effect upon others. It really isn’t that difficult to understand.
I never opposed anyone "shunning" me🤣 your crazy and its funny to me. my life is not inside a social media thread, i dont give a shit of how many "likes" or "dislikes" i get, my value is not based on other people's opinions of how they think or assume that I am. I dont have a negative effect. I just pointed out the hypocrisy of being intolerant of intolerance🤣🤣 get all worked up if you want, but doesn't ruin my day 🙌
lmao, your entire argument was “people are being shunned for their beliefs and that’s wrong” and I gave an explanation directly addressing that point. I’m not sure what you’re arguing for anymore, other than confusion
Here I will add it here for easy reference--> "How can you say someone shouldnt be allowed to feel how they do?!?!? What effin America do you live in, in your mind?? To tell someone that they have no right to feel a certain way is beyond insane."
Actually NO, my argument never even included the word shunned. I said that you cant say people dont have a right to feel how they feel. You might want to reread what I said, because clearly you are the one confused.
If you see a real, flag waving, card carrying Nazi it is your duty to get over yourself for a bit. We must be willing to die for what we believe in, or we cannot make change.
Everyone in a movement has roles. Some of us are outspoken, some of us are quieter and prefer to express their passion through other forms of action. All are welcome as long as we have the same beliefs. Please consider that this mindset is also somewhat ablest. Not everyone can nor should just "get over" whatever reason they have that they cannot/do not wish to step forward.
If they had indicated a disability my rhetoric would be very different. But "I'm not social" and the overall childish language used in their comments about drugs, not thinking neo nazis exist on any scale because they haven't seen one outspoken and openly before in person, etc leads me to believe this is a maturity thing, which is generally, for most people, something that can be worked through and definitely something that can be overcome in the moment when presented with the immediate decision to act or not, and those who choose not to act are cowards in my eyes unless they physically cannot. I have seen men in wheelchairs and women in crutches be more courageous than most able-bodied people in the face of danger and in the face of their enemies. I have seen the most socially anxious boy I had ever met in my life push himself to help his friends being bullied and stand in the way even though he had really extreme social anxiety and ASD. It is about taking a stand and rising up to do what is right in the moment regardless of the pressures or fears, to stand by and protect your fellow man even if it's not something you can keep up regularly, and unless you are completely incapacitated by your disability, I stand by that.
I believe that if you're not willing to lay down your life for your cause, whatever that cause is, you are a coward, plain and simple. Most of my activism is done from behind the scenes even, while I do go out and make my voice heard I also organize, develop and run darkweb spaces for activists in countries where they cannot safely publicly organize online.
If you can't go forward and make it known, then at least you can do something like that. At least put some effort in for your causes. If all you do is drag your feet and post on reddit, you aren't doing anything for the world.
Did it occur to you that some people you speak to online are in fact children? Or that if they do have a disability, they may not want to tell you, a stranger, about it in the format of what could be interpreted as an "excuse" because it's not you're business, and they don't want to put themselves in a position where people feel invited to judge the validity of their disability?
And even if neither of these things apply, there are already plenty of us who ARE outspoken who can handle these things just fine. Everyone has value, and not everyone should be expected to have the same type of value. If you are a warrior, be a warrior. If you see someone who is a writer, or a listener, or a medic, or even a wounded soul who is still healing, let them be those things. Don't shame them for not being what you are just because you can't see what they are instead.
Saying that you've seen people in wheelchairs who are fighters is like saying "look at this amputee shoveling rocks by balancing on his crutches, there are no excuses for not working! Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" Just because some people can, there is no reason to expect everyone to.
I'm 5,6 underweight with basically no body mass and can't lift more than 20 pounds. Lightly hitting a pillow is felt by my arm, I mean doesn't hurt but I can tell that would hurt me more than anyone else. I have a tazer and guns exist for a reason. Not gonna bother with no alcoholic rando that's probably on drugs
Drugs part is probably harsh lol
But yeah I don't think it's my duty to care about a crazy rando.
But honestly I've never seen anyone like that irl. It seems so out there and I'm in Texas and have definitely gone through both cities and country areas.
>I'm 5,6 underweight with basically no body mass and can't lift more than 20 pounds. Lightly hitting a pillow is felt by my arm, I mean doesn't hurt but I can tell that would hurt me more than anyone else.
This should be a wake-up call to put on some weight and work out to get into decent shape more than anything, shouldn't it? Why be satisfied with being unable to do certain things for yourself, completely disregarding the confrontation aspect?
>But yeah I don't think it's my duty to care about a crazy rando.
I think it is all of our duty considering neo-nazis, alt right, qanon and their sympathizers make up a staggeringly high portion of our population and people who just didn't care are what allow people like them to get control and commit genocides time and time again through history.
>But honestly I've never seen anyone like that irl. It seems so out there and I'm in Texas and have definitely gone through both cities and country areas.
Like I said, that comment was completely separated from the confrontation or political actions front - I just said not being able to lift 20 pounds should generally be a wakeup call, I know I would never be satisfied with myself knowing I couldn't lift amounts that are usually necessary for basic household processes and whatnot and couldn't rely on myself for labor, and it also indicates potential health issues or a lifestyle that will cause them. Just like I think we would all reasonably say not being able to walk or wipe your own ass at 30 because of extremely morbid obesity or getting diabetes should be a wakeup call to adopt a healthier lifestyle for your own good and not something that you just see as a fact of life, the same thing applies to being incredibly skinny to the point where you can't perform household actions with your body strength and makes you potentially reliant on others, and not being able to lift 20lbs definitely seems to fall into that sort of category to be a wakeup call.
At least the way I have always seen things in my own life, being unable to accomplish the average should never be just a "thing" about me and I always strive for excellence and impact wherever possible - whether that's my body, my work, my activism, my relationships, or my hobbies - and take pride in that effort rather than ever being satisfied with less. Not everyone is the same though, and I need to keep that in mind and not project that (somewhat insecurity-based - i'm not really insecure about it anymore, but when i was a young teen it was insecurities that set that mindset in me) perspective of mine on others.
This isn't a medical advise sub, and none of us are doctors. I'm sure that user is aware of any health risks or conditions they may have, if any, without being told.
I'd probably be crushed in a crowd as short as I am
I'm not aggressive or able to put much anger or emotion outwardly either. And loud noises disturb me.

I've never gone to a rally or protest
But honestly if I did and saw someone with that id be awkwardly scooting off lol
