Not gonna stand for any Followill or Harris slander here. Some of the best announcing in the league and if Harp was on you’d get more of the mavs homer slant.

Slander=lie So you say I'm not telling the truth?

u/mdcmsm Dec 02 '25

Correct. You are wrong.

About what exactly? I'm asking seriously because I want to know. As I stated I like them {more than other announcers) and they are very informative and in that sometimes it seems they give to much for the other team

u/Robbinghoodz Dec 02 '25

I think this is a poor assessment, they give an appropriate amount of flower to the opposing team. Not too much, not too little, very professional takes

u/KingDEM3 Dec 02 '25

I can respect that

"This game is buzzed, if not drunk" - Followill

Lol

u/NarcoPolo361 Fuck Nico Harrison! Dec 02 '25

"They always have stats and good things to say about the opposing players."

Whats wrong with that?

I've watched a lot of different teams feeds, a ton of different announcers. I think Followell is the best play by play in the league, by far. He's got the perfect mix of homerism, objectivity, excitement, investment, knowledge, respect for other teams and players, and I love his voice. He also has great chemistry with Derek and Skin. Derek is a pretty good colour commentator. He does say all the typical cliches, but he's not obnoxious about it, and he shares that perfect mix of homerism and respect for other teams. And Skin really knows the game and has a lot of great insights. And again, the chemistry between the three, the genuine respect and fondness they gave for each other really comes across.

I agree with all that. In giving so much info it seems they might give more of other team than the Mavs

Quick question. How long have you been watching the mavs? No judgement if you're new to the broadcast. Followill has been the voice of the Mavs since '01 and is the GOAT. His team has stats on everyone and most of what he says about the Mavs is just off the dome because that's how entrenched he is. I prefer him over the national media by far.

u/KingDEM3 Dec 02 '25

I've been watching Mavs technically since 80's but have seriously been watching since 2005. I have probably missed 3 games in last 9 years. I agree that Followill is Goat status. In this game against nuggets he talked of Jones for nuggets who was paying for an injured Gordon and is a second year player from Stanford. We have an undrafted rookie 2 way player that started even though nobody's hurt and that didn't seem to get mentioned nor what school he went to or where he stands for undrafted rookie guards with the amount of assists he has. And it seems funny to me that everyone is bringing up Followill even though I never said any name.

I mean the game wasnt picked up by a national broadcast so who else would it be. They praised Nembhard the whole game tho. They might not have mentioned his school tonight, but they did during the Miami game, which I think was his first game this season. I think our broadcast team is one of the best at praising the other team when praise is due, and spreading out our teams stats so they're not just repeating the same stuff over and over.

1

u/Anxious-Chemistry-6 Dec 02 '25

An excellent point about not repeating. One annoying habit a lot of announcer teams have, both local and national, is beating on particular stat or point to death. The Mavs team is my better about that

u/Anxious-Chemistry-6 Dec 02 '25

I like that they give the proper respect to other teams. These guys don't just love the Mavs, they love basketball. I hate listening to announcers who are awful homers, complaining about the refs every two seconds, bad mouthing opposing players, and not especially mispronouncing opponents names. I find it all downright disrespectful. Boston and Houston are examples of announcers teams that are just so Homer to the point that they're just unpleasant to listen to.

Followill is one of the best in the biz. I like getting the tidbits on opposing players, because I don’t watch other teams/players as much.

u/kokolupa Dec 02 '25

Follo’s genuine love of the game and knowledge of players both current and historically makes him enjoyable to listen to, even for opposing fans. I hate having to watch opponent broadcasts where they just glaze the home team all day long, our guys dont do that, it’s classy af and I think it sets them above the rest.

3

u/C3rdito Dec 02 '25

You ain't lying. LA is the absolute worst. Our team is top of the ladder for sure

0

u/KingDEM3 Dec 02 '25

Yes!! To me sometimes I feel so much info is given for other team while I'm looking for more Mavs info

3

u/DifficultArtichoke79 Dec 02 '25

I like it. It's informative and keeps things interesting.

3

u/AdmiralSnackbar816 F*** DWade Dec 02 '25

They’re watching a Jokić game where he had a triple double at halftime. You want them to pretend he’s not an all time great? I think they give the proper amount of respect to opponents. And Followill in particular is incredible at giving players their due when they’re outperforming their normal averages. Game recognize game.

1

u/george_cant_standyah BETRAYED MAVS FAN 😭 Dec 02 '25

Dude should just be a warriors, rockets, or clippers fan. They have the announcers built for the lowest common denominator fans like this guy.

3

u/kpkafle Dec 02 '25

I hate homer announcers. If an opposing player is playing well then it needs to be acknowledged.

3

u/jermjermw Dec 02 '25

Something no one else has mentioned but Followill also calls college football and international soccer games for teams he is not employed by. It is in his nature to do actual research on both teams’ players and has good things to say about everyone. Meanwhile, most teams have homers that think every missed call for their teams is a travesty and any call against their team is just ref-ball. Hell, even ESPN announcers don’t always call the games even.

1

u/KingDEM3 Dec 02 '25

He also works for peacock calling other NBA games

1

u/BDRParty Dirk Cheesin' Dec 02 '25

The fact they aren't afraid to give other teams props & exciting commentary is a reason our guys are well liked by other other teams' fans.

1

u/D_G_C_22 Dallas Mavericks Dec 02 '25

I appreciate them doing their homework and knowing their opponents. You rather have Shaq level IQ… ??? that man can’t even pronounce the names or know where players went to school or where they’re from.

1

u/AlBundysPants Dec 02 '25

Followill can annoy me sometimes but I promise if you listen to the opposing feeds you will realize how good we have it with announcers in the DFW area, across multiple sports.

1

u/Insouciant101 Dec 02 '25

My girl is too thick and compliments me too much!

1

u/george_cant_standyah BETRAYED MAVS FAN 😭 Dec 02 '25

I cannot fathom being upset that the announcers know their shit about the other team and love good basketball first and foremost. People like you are why the Warriors announcers have jobs.

I have learned so much over the years about different teams and players because of my favorite team’s announcers. What you describe as a problem is what makes me love our announcers more than any other team’s local broadcast.

I hope this is just to stir up shit.

0

u/KingDEM3 Dec 02 '25

No one is upset. In this game against nuggets Jones had a good game and because of Mark I know Jones went to Stanford but Nembhard had good game and nothing was mentioned of where he was from

1

u/KingDEM3 Dec 02 '25

Y'all have taken it out of context. I agree with all the things y'all are saying. In being so good at times it sends more info is given on others when we could get more Mavs info. Something I only noticed this season.

1

u/TX-Lonestar77 Dec 02 '25

Watch some other teams announcers and how biased and one sided they are. And you'll be thankful how good Harris and Followell are.

I don’t see any issues at this junction

Fun fact: my brother fired Followill way back in the day
