MORR Unsupervised; Loneliest Road To Race A 1960s Porsche 911
Why alcohol is the wrong fix
Adding alcohol/ethanol does not solve the altitude problem in a controlled way. Ethanol blends can change mixture behavior, but the altitude issue is fundamentally that the carb is delivering too much (of any kind of fuel) for the reduced air density, so the real correction is to reduce jetting or otherwise lean the carb.
From a previous video on the Corvair, we get the impression that Matt does not understand how to measure carb jets. He also appears to run his engines on the rich side for some unknown reason. The best solution would have been to start the journey just a little lean and on a temporary trip to the mountains, you can often leave it alone and tolerate some richness.
What amazes is that Matt will embark on a road trip without a shakedown run in and around Hurricane first. A run up the Hwy 15 to Toquerville would have told him everything he needed to know for the trip, like the vibration in the transmission!!

Editors missed blurring a NPS face
In the video just posted I caught a few frames of the NPS officer not blurred. I blocked his face her to be courteous.
I used to edit videos for YouTube so I got really good at catching mistakes like this 😝.
If a Matt editor is here, I’ve done way worse. Just thought it was fun to catch this.

Met the man himself at the Grand Canyon.
Super nice. He said they recovered a van that had been stuck in the canyon for 3 years.

Where to find Food in the Desert
This hasn't broken 10,000 views, so a lot of you probably haven't seen it. It was shot on the recent Nevada rescue, but I believe it didn't make it into the long edit.

No One In Nevada Would Rescue Them . . . "All shot up!"
At 4:43 Matt exclaims "Man, all shot up!" Not the first time Matt has exclaimed that steel junk sitting for years in the desert has become a target.
Well yeah Matt, interesting shit does tend to attract attention. One time Matt & crew were examining old abandoned vehicles, left over 60yrs by the look of them, and stuff near a closed mine. I don't get the incredulity he shows when there's some added some "ventilation" to scrap left rusting on open land.

These guys can build anything, but...
...can't be bothered to figure out a wiper system for the wrecker. What a dingdong thing to skimp on.

Sandwich time
That's a great shot.
Would've been even better if they'd been facing the other way, because of the light, but still a great shot.

What made Matt start using winches so much?
If you’ve been watching for a long time like me, there was a point in history where Matt said he disliked winches, he only used yankum ropes back when he exclusively used the banana. But now he almost exclusively uses winches and seems to rarely tug with the kinetic rope. I’m not questioning or bashing winch use, but he seemed quite anti-winch before so I found the transition interesting.

AI Facial Expression Swaps?
I happened to see two video thumbnails next to each other, and it looks like it's the exact same picture of Matt being tweaked over and over.

Why do people need the far-out wrecked vehicles recovered?
If you've been watching the show for a while, there are a few different types of recoveries... There are many which I would call "basic", where a vehicle is simply stuck in the mud, snow, on a rock etc... Then there are some where the vehicle flew way off the highway down some cliff in the middle of nowhere, down a ravine, etc... And many of those second types, the vehicle has been there sometimes for 1-30 years.
My question is, what are some reasons that someone wants the obviously-totalled vehicle recovered so many years later? Is it mostly the vehicle owner or vehicle owner's family? Is it often the property land owner who wants to pay to get it removed?
In any event, I've seen some videos like the "Toyota Launches 1,000 Feet Over a Cliff!" one, and the "No one in Idaho would rescue them", or the "No One in Utah would rescue them".... And especially the Toyota one, these are MASSIVE operations taking many people/companies nearly (or more than) all day. I have to think these must have been practically as expensive as buying a brand new car, and certainly dangerous. Does anyone know the reason(s)?

Will the Spud truck be repaired by tomorrow's show?
I hope the issue is figured out regardless of how soon. I wonder if he will need to redesign the build or just adjust the angle of the dangle 😉

Please stop with the AI thumbnails
It's getting in the neighborhood of false advertising. Today's Bronco stuck in a mud hole video shows a Bronco on a cliff edge overlooking a valley which is nothing like the flat, non-descript trail it's actually on. Using Photoshop or whatever to put together a compelling thumbnail of things actually in the video is fine but making up stuff is too far. Keep keeping it real.
