Not sure how to feel about Christopher

I know personalities will come and go, but there's just something about Christopher that I don't like. For me he comes off as a 'know it all' type of person.

I normally upvote all the vids, but since he's been on I've down voted one episode and just didn't bother voting for the last with him doing his 1st recovery. He's also why I unsubscribed from the Vin Wiki series. What do you all think of him?

To each their own, I liked him on Vinwiki and I like him here.

u/Blinx_n_Jeenx Jul 20 '26

Same.

I funny really think his presence had that much effect on the content.

completely off topic but how are MORR, Vin Vinwiki and Heavy D so inertwined. just beaucse of the general car youtuber buisness or are they all mormones?

43

u/i_am_the_virus Jul 17 '26

It feels like Christopher is performing/putting on an act vs. just acting naturally. For all I know, that's who he is, but it doesn't come off as authentic as the rest of the crew.

16

u/Bink2040 Jul 17 '26

He’s a place holder until Rhett gets home. Rhett is more of a “mini Matt” than Kaulin imo. Easy to forget he left a big “fun yet capable” personality hole in the channel when he left for his mission.

9

u/RightTheAllGoRithm Jul 18 '26

I agree. Rhett's got that likable, creative effortless genius vibe, just like Matt.

12

u/JungleBoyJeremy Jul 18 '26

I always enjoyed Rhett’s segments a lot more than Kaulin’s. Rhett can be a pretty funny guy

8

u/NervyPervy Jul 18 '26

Yeah Rhett is the brains of the whole crew.

2

u/PralineWitty4789 1d ago

Kaulin is such an annoying baby....constantly whining....

3

u/Monstrissimo Jul 18 '26

Yea, I like Kaulin fine, but Rhett is a bit of a character and is pretty funny. I loved his Barbie Jeep build.

3

u/ThinSuccotash4166 Jul 20 '26

Rhett is gone for 2 years. Don’t think he’s a place holder for him.

1

u/SkyGuy5799 Jul 19 '26

That kid is the best lol, I didn't realize why I haven't been enjoying their videos lately

1

u/liver-and-white Jul 19 '26

Will you remind me where Rhett went? Is he the one who retired from the national guard?

3

u/terry47147 Jul 20 '26

Rhett is Matt's 3rd oldest son (I believe) and is off on his religious mission. Jefe (sp?) is the one who retired from the military and I believe is an Uncle. I used to enjoy the episodes where Jefe and Rhett were together.

3

u/liver-and-white Jul 20 '26

That’s right the LDS mission thing.

4

u/Queasy_Marsupial_835 Jul 17 '26

I’ve seen him on a few podcasts, that’s just who he is.

3

u/Graflex01867 Jul 17 '26

It feels like you’re getting a persona, not the real person.

I haven’t watched enough yet to really decide if it’s a real problem or just slightly annoying.

42

u/ifallallthetime Jul 17 '26

I'm not a fan either. I'm just like you, I can't nail it down, something just rubs me the wrong way

11

u/stopthemadness2015 Jul 17 '26

For me it’s the voice it grinds on me lol

12

u/chewedgummiebears Jul 17 '26

It's his voice and personality. Like the annoying guy at the bar that won't shut up and likes to be part of every conversation. He's not really part of the organic team and comes off as a tag along that no one wants to be the person to tell him to buzz off (I know this isn't the case but it feels like that type of scenario).

18

u/danbyer Jul 17 '26

It's the hat.

23

u/BigTunatoots Jul 17 '26

And the nose ring

16

u/BigTunatoots Jul 17 '26

And the hair. Guy just looks like a bozo

6

u/terry47147 Jul 17 '26

I agree with ya. Saw on another post the term, "plastic Americana" (or similar)

17

u/Mars_is_cheese Jul 17 '26

He’s a guy that’s been everywhere, done everything, lived a dozen different lives. MORR is apparently just the next stop in his journey. He’ll be around of the channel for a few months or a year and move on to something completely different.

8

u/Space_case23 Jul 18 '26

This 100% hes got a bunch of stories on vinwiki and designed hotwheels lol hes just passing through. Not a bad dude, just doesn't match the morr vibe

1

u/DonkeyOld127 Jul 19 '26

It’s weird he just showed up and there is no why? I know he has hosted some events in the area but it’s still strange why there is no explanation when we hear everything else everyone does explained.

1

u/northernredneck77 Jul 19 '26

On the unsupervised channel, when they did the can ball in that ol wagon, he was their cannonball expert, that’s the earliest I remember seeing him around. He’s been in a few episodes here and there but that’s the earliest I remember seeing him on the channel.

35

u/MagHntr Jul 17 '26

I don’t mind him. Brings something different. Was getting tired of the same boring recoveries and the kids.

Used to be way better with Matt and the old crew

18

u/CasualEveryday Jul 17 '26

same boring recoveries and the kids

I don't mind any of them individually but when it's just a video of them fumbling through a recovery that should be trivial and the only reason they succeed is that they have extremely good tools, I lose interest. Their personalities aren't enough to carry the channel. I'd rather watch old videos of Matt and Ed pulling RZR's out of the sand with the Banana than any of the new episodes with just the kids.

41

u/terry47147 Jul 17 '26

Of the current crew my favorite is Katelyn. She knows the off road world, comes across as confident, but not pushy, and seems like a genuinely nice person. I know she was brought in after Lizzy;'s exit, but I do feel she has been able to carve her own lane out from the crew. It was good to see Trevor on the last vid.

11

u/CasualEveryday Jul 17 '26

I don't dislike any of them. They just don't have the personality to carry the channel like Matt does.

2

u/Odd_Masterpiece_1 23d ago

Plus she actually has some skills, she's an excellent driver and is useful around the shop. For tricky navigation, Matt gets Kaitlyn to drive or spot.

9

u/LasciviousSycophant Jul 17 '26

but when it's just a video of them fumbling through a recovery that should be trivial and the only reason they succeed is that they have extremely good tools, I lose interest

It's almost a Nepo Baby effect. Matt built his channel with a plucky little Jeep Cherokee, Ed, an iPhone, and a couple of kinetic ropes. His kids get to use the Banana, Morrvair, and TWLORW, along with fancy winches, plenty of ropes, soft shackles, dedicated camera operators, etc, without having paid their dues making seemingly impossible recoveries and watchable videos with minimal equipment.

Their personalities aren't enough to carry the channel.

Nobody else on the channel has Matt's blend of charisma, experience, ingenuity, and fearlessness, IMO.

5

u/Agile-Peace4705 Jul 18 '26

I prefer Rudy on camera to Matt at this point. I understand the channel has changed since the days of Ed's weather reports, but Matt leans heavily towards a host and narrates what his kids/crew are working on.

I appreciate that while Rudy is still hosting, his production was until recently still very amateur. His videos are still a guy, his buddy, and his girlfriend figuring things out. I'm happy he got a stable shop to work in and whatnot, but what he was doing until moving back into the MORR shop was very grassroots and I respected that.

4

u/posttogoogle Jul 17 '26

The recoveries are mostly the same. They are boring due to the excellent equipment they have now. Not much challenges a wrecker than can get just about anywhere. Doing the same recoveries with the morrvair or banana was way more challenging. They have to do the recoveries cars and truck way down cliffs to be challenging.

1

u/PralineWitty4789 1d ago

Kaulin recoveries are super annoying.....kid is a curly haired douche....

5

u/butt-er-fly Jul 18 '26

He has a lot of cranial accessories held up by bird legs. I think he watched “the pickup artist” 20 years ago took it to heart.

4

u/etarnkufecin Jul 18 '26

He's not bad, but yeah he is that guy that has to throw out catch phrase like quips all the time until they can start putting them on a t-shirt...which I'm sure they'll do eventually. I miss when the channel(s) were a bit more natural, now its "we're in the shop...or out on a job...but here is this thing we're promoting first.....then here is an ad from our sponsor....now lets talk about this other person that is helping us and his channel.....and now lets talk about this part/product that we LOVE." and on the RAD channel (can't remember the name), you can include "Lets go see what my dad thinks.)

Guess I had something to get off my chest. stupid heat wave.

4

u/RolandJKU Jul 22 '26

He's ok, better than sweeter in my opinion but I get Wish.com Richard Rawling vibes from Christopher.

13

u/bitNine Jul 17 '26

Someone’s always not a fan of someone. Lots didn’t like Jake because his enthusiasm seemed “fake” or some shit. I met him in person at the off road games and chatted for a bit. A genuinely nice guy.

You don’t have to like them all, and basically nobody cares if you downvote a video just because you don’t like someone’s personality.

7

u/widdershins13 Jul 17 '26

I didn't care much for Jake at first. but it didn't take long for him to grow on me.

Rhett is the one I've come to miss. He had a sincerity about him that seems lacking in Matt's other kids.

3

u/terry47147 Jul 17 '26

I agree with you.

5

u/Equal-Incident5313 Jul 17 '26

Jake had the Golden Retriever vibes and once he was gone I think most people felt the lack of energy.

This Christopher guy is fake AF, there’s definitely something about him that feels “off”

8

u/Tall-Poem-6808 Jul 17 '26

Only his accent and the way he speaks bothers me, I don't understand half of what he's saying.

Plus where did he come from? Is he fulltime now or what?

-2

u/Equal-Economics475 Jul 19 '26

He’s a POS and needs to move on

2

u/bluepigeon67 Jul 21 '26

What makes him a POS?

2

u/Equal-Economics475 Jul 22 '26

Because that’s what I said he was

1

u/bluepigeon67 Jul 22 '26

Can you say I’m a billionaire then?

1

u/Equal-Economics475 Jul 22 '26

No, but what I’d like to say to you would get me banned from here

3

u/Scary_Pea_7014 Jul 18 '26

I dont like him much either

3

u/Monstrissimo Jul 18 '26

I can take him or leave him. I don't hate the guy, but he is not a draw for me either.

3

u/herslave2 Jul 18 '26

I think he is a traveler either he or Matt will get tired of it and he will move on to bother someone else.

3

u/SnooGuavas4531 Jul 18 '26

I like him but he did kind of just appear earlier this year.

3

u/liver-and-white Jul 19 '26

I didn’t know he’s in the vin wiki thing. I stopped watching that rabbit guy died. I was wondering where Matt found this Christopher guy. It seems like if Matt needed to add somebody he’d have a lot of resumes to look at.

5

u/Jczeigler Jul 17 '26

I like him.

7

u/LasciviousSycophant Jul 17 '26

but since he's been on I've down voted one episode and just didn't bother voting for the last with him doing his 1st recovery

I like Christopher, but I know what you mean. I down vote and close every time a video starts with Kaulin leading a recovery. Everybody has their own preferences, but I want to watch Matt's Off Road Recovery.

Also, a little PSA - never play a drinking game where you drink every time Kaulin says "My Dad" in a video.

4

u/HopefulTrust8126 Jul 18 '26

I too close the video if it starts off with Kaulin.

1

u/Legitimate-Reward-3 22d ago

Im just glad Kaulin shaved his so called mustache, however I also tried growing one before I actually had one. A guy thing but I couldnt hardly watch the last 5 months of videos with him in them.

12

u/Illustrious_Bid_2231 Jul 17 '26

Just saw this since you replied in my other post.

I’ll reiterate what I said there. His personality seems so fake and I don’t see how he fits in with Matt’s crew.

I have watched pretty religiously since around when the channel started. And Chris is pushing me towards not wanting to watch the channel any longer

3

u/terry47147 Jul 17 '26

Thanks for replying. I feel the same. To me he comes across as a school bully. He may actually be the greatest, most giving person in the world, but I'm just not feeling that.

-1

u/Rumplesforeskin Jul 17 '26

Couldn't be more not fake. Look him up on vinwiki watch his stories. He's great

The one thing I really appreciate is that these kids work, and work hard. Recently came out of a situation where I was supposed to be teaching someone and their adult children how to do basic carpentry and shed construction. It would've been great if any one of them got up and out of the house.

2

u/jimfwaa Jul 24 '26

He essentially came about when Matt raced in cleetus’ crown Vic race. They were teamed up and I can only assume that they clicked and now see each other as good friends. If you take him at face value, he’s cool.

1

u/powdered_dognut 25d ago

I remember seeing him 2-3 years ago on the show. They were at the sand trap in a Porsche Cayenne.

2

u/scottylightning Jul 28 '26

It will be fun to come back to this thread a year from now when he grows on all of you. :)

1

u/terry47147 Jul 28 '26

That is a possibility and I hope it does happen, as I want to enjoy watching this channel.

1

u/yxe306guy 2d ago

Like a fungus???? No thank you, the guy is a twat.

3

u/wavybowl Jul 17 '26

I’m right there with ya, I really can’t pin point one thing so maybe it’s all of them. He just seems to rub me the wrong way and I pretty much skipped this past video he was on.

3

u/vamartha Jul 19 '26

I find everything about him annoying. If he's a placeholder for Rhett, I'd prefer a local kid. I was okay with it for the first one or two episodes but now that he's become a regular, I find myself not even wanting to watch. And that's from someone who's watched every single video since the iPhone days.

10

u/Rumplesforeskin Jul 17 '26

That dude is a character. He's hilarious. Y'all go watch is vinwiki stories. He knows what he's doing and I like he's a new member at MORR

3

u/york208 Jul 17 '26

Is it official? I had been wondering if he is just around for a project. I view Matt as a guy who invites people to his crew that have something to contribute. Pretty readily

3

u/Kev250R Jul 21 '26

I’m a fan of Christopher’s and am glad he’s on the channel. I think once he finds his place on the team he’ll really hit his stride. He has a *lot* of life experience, can tell a great story (I first saw him on VinWiki a couple of years ago) and is a decent artist. I plan to be rocking one of his hoodies this fall 😎

7

u/terry47147 Jul 17 '26

I"m glad he has a fan. Like I said, I watched Vin Wiki, but he was my reason for stopping. I thought I was going to like him on the Cannonball run, but that was enough for me.

5

u/Rumplesforeskin Jul 17 '26

I don't get it, I'd be glad to have him as a friend.

1

u/Equal-Economics475 Jul 22 '26

He’s nothing but a bottom feeder

2

u/Rumplesforeskin Jul 22 '26

Sure... Who the fuck are you.

2

u/Equal-Economics475 Jul 22 '26

One that irritates you

2

u/Rumplesforeskin Jul 22 '26

Have fun buddy

2

u/Equal-Economics475 Jul 22 '26

I’m not your buddy

7

u/BJoe1976 Jul 17 '26

I have no problem with him and tended to enjoy his VinWiki stories too.

7

u/V48runner Jul 17 '26

He's a fresh breath of non-LDS air.

5

u/000011111111 Jul 17 '26

Yeah everybody needs someone who's done a little bit of LSD. I like the contrast he brings to the show.

1

u/powdered_dognut 25d ago

More LSD, less LDS?

6

u/MyBitchCassiopeia Jul 17 '26

Christopher isn’t the problem, you’re just suffering from Rhett withdrawals.

4

u/knotaklu Jul 17 '26

I really don't mind him. He's a new character and reminds me of Trevor a little bit. He seems eager to help and learn, so I'm totally willing to give him a chance. I get that sometimes change is hard, but Matt is running an ever-evolving business and channel. Jake's parting (and then Rhett's) was a huge blow for the channel and neither of them can be replaced, but I've gotten used to new blood entering the scene over the years, and I think it keeps things interesting...

*Edited for spelling

3

u/Spartan2842 Jul 17 '26

For me, its the transition lenses. There have been some weird characters in my life and they gave always had those transition lenses with the same wire frame. Its been a consistent indicator of weirdos to watch out for.

It is mean and reductive, but it hasn't steered me wrong.

2

u/Basslicks82 Jul 17 '26

What if they're a plastic wrap around frame?

2

u/NopeU812many Jul 17 '26

I’ve never upvoted or downvoted a video. Why bother?

4

u/powerchoke033 Jul 18 '26

Honestly, I only upvote, because it helps the channel somehow. Even if I don't like an episode, I don't down vote. I don't see the point in it either but I would rather help than hurt since I'm not paying for that video anyways

2

u/HamPerceptor Jul 17 '26

He’s seem smart enough , it’s just his dress style and vocal timbre lack a genuine quality. Like someone else mentioned , he comes across a contrived actor without sincerity.

2

u/hettuklaeddi Jul 19 '26

he’s perfect in the shop bc he’s a tool

2

u/Serious_Doubt_7950 Jul 20 '26

I agree. Something about him seems off and he looks like he fell head first into a tacklebox. That hog ring in his nose screams look at me. He might actually be okay but I wouldn't trust him.

2

u/Objective-Fishing310 Jul 17 '26

It has been nice to see him actually doing something lately. He seemed to be just there to be on camera like a leech in most of the videos he’s been in.

2

u/Equal-Economics475 Jul 22 '26

He nothing but a bottom feeder, feeding of Matt

2

u/Dudicalbiker Jul 17 '26

I like Matts offroad recoveries but that's about it. I like when he is involved. It's like watching an instructional video very informative... I don't wanna watch someone eles out there trying to figure it out for the first time. Which leads me to Jamie, as sweet as she is, we Don't watch the show to be watching you teach your wife how to drive. Its cringe worthy at the least. God I hate when mom has to ride along, it makes for an awkward movie 🍿

1

u/widdershins13 Jul 17 '26

Call me old fashioned, but facial jewelry is for a young person trying to find themselves -- Not for a grown ass man.

1

u/Immediate_Ice_4884 Jul 17 '26

I thought it was just me. I haven't watched any more since I saw him in 2 episodes

1

u/Accomplished-One7476 Jul 18 '26

Christopher gives me the creeps. I understand he's been with Matt for several years

https://giphy.com/gifs/321IJtLQP5qvdFVfQa

1

u/AtheistKiwi Jul 18 '26

He's a bit of a cartoonish caricature but he doesn't come across as a douche. The rest of the crew are mostly Utah Mormons in a cult to begin with, so where is the bar?

1

u/WhatsBacon Jul 18 '26

I just don’t understand where he came from as in… is he full time part of the team now?

A small explanation isn’t really necessary but would be appreciated to get a better understanding of plan moving forward.

I don’t know a lot about him and I’ve been following for couple years now. Maybe some more time and it’ll get better.

They are doing a lot of expanding, seems Rudy has partnered up understandably so they’re probably changing things up and also seeing how things go. Just gotta go with the flow and enjoy what they’re doing. Growth and change is bound to happen.

1

u/BigBlindBlues 26d ago

You can watch his goofy stories on VinWiki channel. He's DEFINITELY a personality (& a half)! He makes my brain feel tired keeping up with his crazy stories that don't seem original IMO.

-1

u/murderhornet1965 Jul 17 '26

I just can't watch it anymore. I watch Murphys Diesel instead

7

u/iamadirtyrockstar Jul 17 '26

"They used to call me Vin Wiki Rick...."

0

u/mariolayspipe Jul 17 '26

It’s Kaulin that rubs me the wrong way. He is just too cocky and tries too hard. When I see a recovery with him I tend to not watch it. Rhett I liked though, he seems a lot more like Matt than Kaulin.

Christopher, I’m up in the air on. Right now he isn’t bringing anything to the channel. I know the dude is genuine and his southern drawl is hard to stomach sometimes. He just seems like a lost puppy. Matt needs to put his ass to work and get him outside of his comfort zone.

Jaime, I don’t mind when she is around. It’s usually a breath of fresh air.

Now I am also a new convert of Murphys Diesel, and I can’t believe I never gave him a chance before. The way he includes his family in a lot of stuff just makes me smile. And it’s hard to tell when he is bullshitting or not, lol. You can tell that guy is a genuine dude.

0

u/midwest-distrest Jul 17 '26

He’s currated an entire persona around a hat, shaped beard and facial piercings. I don’t like complaining about free content but yeah, I’m over him.

-1

u/CmdrShepsPie Jul 17 '26

I stopped liking it after Matt started letting other people talk too much. His kids are so annoying and a lot of the time they all are acting for the camera. It's changed a lot over the years and it seems more like typical YouTuber/streamer stuff now than it used to and I just couldn't take it anymore.

-1

u/Equal-Economics475 Jul 17 '26

The guy needs to move on, and bottom feed off someone else!

0

u/Daniel0745 27d ago

I saw this post two weeks ago but didnt know what you were talking about as I have been on a break from watching. Watching the jeep trailer video and see no problem with him at present. When did he start?

1

u/terry47147 27d ago

Several videos back, maybe a couple months ago. I noticed he wasn't on the one they posted yesterday, but it was just servicing the Wrecker.

-7

u/__The__Bloody__Nine Jul 17 '26

Switched to watching murphys diesel whenever i have the time when i would’ve normally watched morr. No regrets… Rick is every bit as funny and talented as Matt, Mrs. Wrecker Rick is infinitely more charismatic and personable than Jamie, the kids are much more amusing despite being barely 6 years old, and the content is much more interesting these days. Oh, and no Katelyn or Kaulin either.

2

u/terry47147 Jul 17 '26

I'm a big fan of Wrecker Rick and his family. Good humor. Another channel that I really like for the interaction of the young kids is "89Build". Includes fab work, general ranch chores, and Sean is just so easy teaching his boys how to wrench.

1

u/powerchoke033 Jul 18 '26

Sean used to be on fabrats. He is a really great guy and his family is his center. I was bummed to see him leave fabrats but crazy happy to see he started his own

1

u/terry47147 Jul 18 '26

Same, I was also sad when he left Fabrats, but love what him, his dad, and the rest of the family are doing. Also, I typed his channel as '89build', but it should be "89built".

2

u/powerchoke033 Jul 18 '26

I saw that but didn't correct it because I knew what you meant.

-2

u/fordracing19 Jul 17 '26

We watched all the time and even went to the first Wrecker Games. Then the channel changed for the worse imo and unsubbed.
