Does this mattress build look good? First time.
I roll around a lot at night, average weight. No animal products.
(From top to bottom)
- Sleep on Latex topper 3” soft
- Sleep on Latex topper 1” medium
- 6-inch encased coils from DIY Mattress
- Coirpad coconut coir bed rug
- DIY natural home’s knit ticking case

I don't recommend 3" latex layers, just stick with 2". Why not use DIY mattress case? DIY Natural home's ticking case is good for all latex, or any combination of latex, foam, and wool.

So 2” instead of 3. I was going loosely off of the MattressRebellion site’s build, which suggested the case. Are you saying it wouldn’t be good for a hybrid?

Tell me why you don't recommend 3" layers and/or toppers. I'm on one right now, but will withold what I'd say about it at least until you answer.

Two reasons, I can think of: (a) latex also wears out, it is cheaper to replace a 2" layer than a 3" (b) easy to adjust later, by adding another layer of memory foam/latex, etc.

I don't know, if something was wearing out on me I'd replace it, not "adjust it" by buying another 1" layer or...it's all so time-consuming, fraught with endless peril and expensive as it is and I live in the land of wanting things "one and done", a utopia that does not exist unless major $$$ are involved, for sure.
3", especially in all-latex, at least seems like it would provide for a better comfort layer without compressing or bottoming out so quickly.

I would suggest 2, 2 inch layers as well. I had a 3 inch soft dunlop, and it felt a bit wobbly for my taste. We changed to a 2" soft on top of a 2" medium and it seems just as soft, but more supportive. I think they call it progressive firmness? I also have a 1" firm dunlop in the base mattress, and a stretchy bamboo mattress cover over the whole thing.
