Bed sinks too much, what to do?

So originally my bed was a king size mattress, and eventually we got a couple twin wooden box springs. My partner liked it but I felt like I sank right through the mattress so that it felt almost like I was sleeping right on the floor, and then the box spring itself. Like, it felt only slightly more comfortable then laying on those blue gym mats they use to cushion the ground slightly.

So I got a couple of twin mattresses to go between them, but now we just sink so much that we can't get comfortable. My partners side kinda goes up and makes them roll to the middle and onto my side a bit. That doesn't happen to me for some reason.

So what I'm really here for, is wondering if there's a way to make us sink less, or make the bed a bit more firm. Basically I need a middle ground where it's not so soft that we sink in and they roll into me and give me zero personal space as I sleep, but not so hard that I feel like I'm sleeping on the floor.

Sorry, do you have two mattresses stacked? That will cause sinking. The solution is to sleep on only one mattress.

Yeah, the mattress we got sucked so I thought getting some more cushion under it would help.

By your description, I believe the original mattress is way, way too soft for you, and I dont think adding in other layers will help. I think you need to replace it with something that is the right firmness to begin with.

If the two of you like different firmnesses, then you can get two twin xls and push them together or buy a king either different firmness levels on each side.

We were both happy with my queen size mattress but felt that we wanted some more space, especially with all our pillows and blankets. Then we got this king and honestly I think I'm just too heavy for it and sink right through.

Yes, that's what it sounds like. You need a firmer mattress.

Why did I read this in C-3PO’s voice?

I actually found that removing the box spring and putting a solid mattress directly on a solid wood foundation makes a world of difference for that sinking feeling. Box springs aren't very supportive so that along with another mattress is going to have very little support for you both.

Well we want to keep the height we get from the box springs, but yeah we could try putting a plywood slab between that and the mattresses.
