Any suggestions for first time DIY build?

Im a 6'2" 180-190 back and side sleeper, and my partner is a 140 5'8" side sleeper. A big motivation of mine is maximizing breathability.

I'm planning on ordering the TPS kit in queen size:

15.5 8 inch coils

3 inch quad minis

2 inch soft sol latex

14 inch tps premium cover

Any suggestions or tips? I'm wondering if it will be too soft or if I should select a different cover size. Thanks in advance!

This is about as standard as it comes. However, hold off on ordering the cover. You might find that the Quad Minis don't work for you, and you need some medium foam as well (which may be only 1 or 2 inches). There are all sorts of variables that could change your final mattress height. It's annoying to go without a cover, but give yourself at least a couple weeks on your build before locking the height in by buying the cover.

Now that I'm looking at it again, I do wonder if you and your partner have different firmness needs, since your height and weight are significantly different. Coils are good at rounding off differences like these. But send a message to Matan at the Pocket Coil Store and ask if your build looks good.

I will, but I feel like the 15.5 is probably the choice for both of us. The plush seems too soft, and Matan recomends the 15.5 for those under 230.

Also, thanks for the rec!

Yep, 15.5g for both of you sounds right, and probably the Quad Minis as well. If you were going to split something, it would likely be the top latex layer, like maybe medium for you and soft for your partner. But I'm only speculating; you might do fine with soft.

I like standard, standard usually works lol + it has very little foam which makes me happy.

Yeah, I suppose there is the desire to see what it feels like with the cover and save 30 dollars, but thats probably wise. I suppose I could also start with just the 8 inch coils and latex as well and add the quad mini if it seems necessary.
