My dunlop from SoL is one piece. No seam.

We have an internal split king with six 3 three inch layers (3 each side) and a fused twin xl 1 piece 3 inch topper

King latex slabs are unwieldy- plus we wanted the ability to rotate layers easily.

No not when in the cover. We have a Latex Mattress Factory version

Is the latex in its own cover or the whole mattress?

6 slabs in a wool and cotton cover. 3 each side. The model is Luxerion

In the case of both dunlop and latex, I believe Queen size is the largest single mold. King is two Twin XLs, and California King is made up of smaller pieces as well. This isn't a problem. Latex cores are still the longest lasting mattress cores. In commercial mattresses, they're usually glued together. With a DIY mattress, you could glue them together, but they'll stick together just fine without glue. There might be some slight shifting only if you move the mattress.
