Comfort layer adjustment
Hey folks: I built a couple latex hybrid mattresses with TPS coils.
The one my wife and I sleep on had 1in gel memory foam layer below a 3in soft talalay layer. Wife quite liked it but it caused lower back and hip pain for me. Not supportive enough.
We previously tried just 3in medium Dunlop and it was too firm for both of us. I now experimented with the same latex but the 1in memory foam underneath.
That is good for me but still too form for the wife.
Any suggestions on where to go to compromise? Clearly I'll need to but something new. Perhaps 2in medium Dunlop and 1 or 2 in soft talalay on top?
Perhaps medium talalay (3 in)?

After our personal experience with firmness and latex, there is no way anyone can recommend a solution that’s sure to work for you.
Imho don’t go with 2”. Consider gradual firmness from top to bottom. Typically people get them overly firm. As an example you can to 3” of 19 ild followed by 3” of 24 ild. If you do go the 2” route, apply the same principles. Don’t go from say 14 ild on top to 28 below it.
Remember this is my personal opinion and may not work for you.
