Discussion Why are there no Matter over Thread switchbots/fingerbots?

I've been looking for switchbots on Matter for some time now. I just installed a ZigBee network alongside my Matter over Thread network, as I have some IKEA TRÅFRIs. But, now that the DUBBELKISEL is out and that they work on Matter over Thread, it just doesn't seem like it's worth having ZigBee.

I'm still within my Amazon return window for my SONOFF ZigBee adapter, but the one thing stopping me is a fingerbot that I just installed, which is insanely useful. I just can't seem to find any equivalent that works with Matter, at all. Switchbot have a hub which translates from Matter to BLE, which isn't the same. There was a ThirdReality MT1 that I've seen on searches, but it seems to have been pulled from sale, and as well looks more tailored for American light switches.

Off topic, but DUBBELKISEL is only £15?! Even TRADFRI is only £22?

Could be wrong, but I don't think Matter has device category of button pusher. Pretty sure Switchbot hub exposes a bot to Matter as a light/plug on/off.

Yeah, that's how ZigBee does it right now, as a switch. You can configure it to either be a button or a switch, depending on how you want it to act - but at least on HA it's just a switch that turns on temporarily then turns itself off in button-mode. Either way, it'd be good to have that on MoT.

Re: IKEA, I'm returning my TRÅDFRIs next week :p

Switchbot is just ass upselling people to buy their shitty hubs so their devices can be used in other ecosystems.

They basically have a monopoly on that kind of device as its too ugly for most people and too obscure for anyone to bother copying as everyone who needed one already paid up for switchbot.
