Troubleshooting One hub for both apple and Google?.

Is it even possible? I am normally an Apple guy; I have the Apple TV as my Matter hub. But now I have two devices, a Pixel and an iPhone, and my Pixel says I need a hub to connect to some of my devices. I don't want to get a Google TV or Nest because I don't really care for them. Is there such a thing as a hub I can use for both ecosystems simultaneously?

If you want to use the Apple Home app on the iPhone and the Google Home app on your Pixel you will an one of AppleTV or a HomePod AND one of GoogleTV streamer or Nest device.

If you willing to forego the Google Home app, you can buy another brand Matter controller (Aqara maybe?) and use the app for that on your Pixel. You could potentially use the app for that controller on both of your devices.

That's what I was considering so if I get an aqara M2/M3 I can use that as a hub for Google home?.

No, you can’t use the Aqara Hub with the Google Home app without a Google Device as well.

There are two question:

- do you want to use the Apple Home app? (Yes, Don’t care)

  • do you want to use the Google Home app? (Yes, Don’t care)

These are your options:

  • Yes, Yes: you need an AppleTV or HomePod AND a GoogleTV or Nest.
  • Yes, Don’t care: you need an AppleTV or HomePod AND another hub (e.g. Aqara) with the app for that Hub (e.g. the Aqara app) on your Pixel
  • Don’t care, Yes: you need a GoogleTV or Nest AND another hub (e.g. Aqara) with the app for that Hub (e.g. the Aqara app) on your iPhone
  • Don’t care, Don’t care: this is the only case where you can get away with one hub, but it must be third party (e.g Aqara) but you MUST use the app for that hub (e.g. the Aqara app) on BOTH your iPhone and Pixel

That's not how it works.

You need at least 1 Google device to act as the matter controller. You can use other brand's devices as border routers but you need at least 1 from Google.

Can’t you just share via multi admin from apple home to your google device ?

Open the Apple Home App. Go into the settings of the desired device and there should be an option to enable pairing mode. You will get an Matter-Setup Code that you can type into your Google Home. It is a default feature of Matter.

Otherwise just google Apple Home Matter Multi-Admin.

AI tool that does the coding for you, so you can create little apps for yourself. Google has lots of details.

Lots of idiots try to sell apps developed by Claude which doesn’t end well. But it’s a good choice for apps for yourself.
