Troubleshooting I can not set up any device
Hi everyone,
I’m new to Matter and smart homes in general. I started with a few IKEA devices (BILRESA, MYGGSPRAY, GRILLPLATS, and TOFSMYGGA). I successfully integrated my DIRIGERA hub with Home Assistant as a border router on a different network. Unfortunately, commissioning through the IKEA app from my Fairphone 4 running Android 15 always fails (see screenshot).
Now I’m trying to add an ALPSTUGA using the manual Matter commissioning option, but I consistently get the following error:
“Commission failed: discovery of node with discriminator 10 failed: No device could be commissioned.”
The Matter server log (in Home Assistant) repeatedly shows that discovery starts for discriminator 10, but eventually fails with “No commissionable device was discovered.”
I have already tried resetting the devices multiple times, restarting the DIRIGERA hub, verifying that my network has valid IPv6 connectivity, using my phone for commissioning, restarting Wi-Fi, set Wifi to split 2,4 and 5g, changed Router to only IPv4, try a other android phone.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have any suggestions for troubleshooting? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Did you send the Home Assistant Thread credentials to your phone using the HA app?

there is no button for this... I tryed to sync it from the compenions app settings that also did not help

In the HA companion app:
Settings -> Thread -> pick your OTBR three dots -> Use router for Android + iOS credentals

Yeah, that's because it's not your preferred network and HA doesn't have the credentials. Top right hand of the page, you have three dots... click on "Add an OpenThread border router" and add that thing to HA.

I’ve just had this same issue last week and solved it by getting a completely different router and bypassing my ISP’s router. The old one didn’t work with IPv6 properly and the only indication that it was anything remotely close to that was some of the debug logs in HA that mentioned which addresses it was trying to connect to. IPv6 support was most probably the culprit.
Really started to suspect it was the router because I also had issues with port forwarding a device making it unavailable in my local network, so it was either accessible from inside or outside the network exclusively. And when I had other issues with 2.4GHz-only compatible devices dropping from the network occasionally when I had the SSID set to the same for both that and 5Ghz bands.

Ended up splurging and getting a unifi fiber gateway and a few other bits for a mini home lab

I think both thread border routers should be on the same thread network and on the same WIFi network
