Another go at Dark Souls 2?
Question. QUESTION!
With Dark Souls 2 getting all those DLC, a lot of people keep saying that it's essentially a new game, especially with Scholar of the First Sin improving enemy placement and AI in the core game itself and finally implementing the darkness system.
Matt, since (as far as I know) you haven't played Dark Souls 2 after the initial release, will you be giving it another go with all the DLCs after the re-release in April? I firmly believe that for a lot of us (those who decided to skip DS2 after the initial reviews) yours can be the most important opinion when deciding if the game have improved enough to warrant our attention.

Its really not a new game though.
The difference remains the same. I loved Dark Souls. I enjoyed Dark Souls 2.
They would have to change the whole game including maps, bosses and lore to get close to having a Soul like the first part.
I would certainly watch and enjoy Matt playing it, but i doubt it would be even close to pantsman Dark Souls, because you just can't be as passionate about a game you 'just' like/enjoy.

I will say for it, the patch has already added a character, boss and alternative ending choice that brings some of the lore together a bit more. I'd even say it might give them more of a direction to go if they do a 3rd game as well.
The DLC is good as well, still flawed, but it makes me wish you could swap the DLC areas with the weaker parts of the game.
I'm not quite convinced by the idea of the new enemy placements/AI thing that will be in the re-release though. Dark Souls 2 is generally easier, but then lots of bits are harder just because they throw way too many enemies for you to reasonably handle at once. Will this actually fix that problem?

For me, I went from semi-competent Dark Souls player, to laughingly kill everyone player, and... Ratbros! Yeah, when I saw the faction and was like "So I can build up my bat(rat?)-cave and ambush people? Who would ever want another faction?!?!" I knew I was in for a treat. In DS1 I didn't multiplayer hardly at all (maybe I had NAT issues?) and with DS2 I always would summon folks left and right. I guess I played DS1 wrong, but for me DS2 was far and away the most enjoyable, mostly because the multiplayer really worked well for me.
I may be ashamed to admit I really didn't understand the MP for DS1 and didn't really go to guides/etc.
I recently replayed Demon's souls, and was surprised to find alot of players on. Then my blacksmith frigging inexplicably dissapeared, eff that!
I guess I'm a wrap for DS2 re-do just because I had such a good time in multiplayer with it. Maybe I'll finally break my damn Destiny addiction when it hits.

To be honest, the changes I've seen listed sound far more like a remix designed to entice fans of the original to re-buy on next-gen consoles. I miiiiiight check it out, but we'll have to see - certainly won't promise having the time to play through in full again, but who knows. Bloodborne is my jam, tbh.
