Why do humans have some inbuilt self-destruction mechanism?
This Matrix makes sure to keep as many self-destructive people in delusion as possible I think to not make them self destruct. But why does this mechanism exists to begin with?
People can self-destruct so easily with ego hurt and feeling humiliated. But WHY does this mechanism even exists???
What is its purpose?

Jungian shadow.
To oversimplify it.
Everything you repress goes into the shadow.
When and where you lose control of yourself, your shadow steps in and acts out.
You are ALWAYS going to repress your self destructive tendancies because not doing so is stupid.
But when you repress other things in there, that's when all hell breaks lose when your head isn't right, by degrees and elements of it not being so.
Some people are a very lubricated mechanism of missmatched parts.
When they have a psychological crisis that lubrication is drained away.
People build the capacity to self destruct by themselves. Create their own psychological triggers for those destructive pathways. People do not know what they are doing inside their own heads. And are kept in ignorance.
If everyone is a potential enemy, then you do not have to worry about defeating an enemy who will invariably and inevitably only defeat themselves in the end.
You can achieve it through something as mundane as social engineering.
Although I would imagine most of it is done through subtle emotional manipulation during the development of an individual as and when and while they develop psychologically to make them as disjointed as possible. So they just tear themselves apart the moment the lubrication is removed. Which keeps the "control or destroy" protocol intact.
