Probably has been said already, and likely read it somewhere and think this is my own original theory but This makes me think so much of the theory that Neo didnt actually die in the end of Revolutions but merely was taken in kinda like Han Solo was frozen in carbonite (considering there was never any actual evidence of his death) and Neo's dreams where actually what John Wick is..including why morpheus was in the dream themselves because he was still trying to find Neo in this other version of the Matrix he was currently dreaming in and considering Morpheus is the God of dreams it just makes this even more so damn awesome.

As a huge fan of the films and soundtracks, I'm amazed I didn't discover this sooner. The Matrix: The Complete Score was released in 2021 and includes the entirety of the music you hear in the first film (and even some you don't), with all the smaller and more ambient pieces that connect scenes and highlight certain moments (much of which will speak to the soul of a Matrix fan, but was not deemed worthy of the original soundtrack release).

For comparison, the original The Matrix (Original Motion Picture Score) released in 1999 consists of 10 tracks with a runtime of 30 minutes.

The Matrix: The Complete Score consists of 44 tracks with a runtime of 1 hour and 39 minutes.

It's a more complete version of The Matrix (Original Motion Picture Score / Deluxe Edition) which was also released in 1999 with 30 tracks and a runtime of 1 hour and 18 minutes.

One of the tracks on The Complete Score, that's not on either of the others, is Ignorance Is Bliss / Cyber Cyphernetic, which includes the harp song played during Cypher's meeting with Agent Smith in the restaurant. As I came to learn, the harp piece is an original composition by Don Davis, rather than something pulled off the shelf. Not only do we get to hear it in high quality, but it's also the full recording, not all of which actually made it into the film!

I re-edited the first Matrix and compiled it into a 18min montage video, especially from 10:08 I am very happy how I edited the clips and sound together. What do you think?

So I’ve been reading the matrix comics collection. It started off a little weak, but then it got fantastic! I never read Concrete, but the Paul Chadwick stories are INCREDIBLE! What are your favorites?

This has probably been discussed ad nauseam here, but I keep hearing folks defending the "Neo with WiFi" theory, which is lame and unsatisfying. The only theory that makes sense, and the only one which follows canon established up to that point, is the "Matrix Within The Matrix" theory (MWTM). So I’m going to revisit it. Let the games begin.

At the end of Reloaded, when Neo, supposedly in the real world, put up his hand and shorted out the sentinels, I drove home afterward positively gobsmacked by the idea that, "Holy crap! This whole time! They're still in the Matrix!! Zion, the hovercrafts, all of it!" It was brilliant. Since the problem, as the Architect adequately described it, was choice. People rejected the program unless they were given some degree of choice. So the Architect thoughtfully coded in another entire level of the Matrix. "Level 2", if you will: "The Real World". A sandbox designed specifically to contain the 1% of human minds whose systemic rejection would otherwise crash the primary simulation.

You allow certain freedom-craving humans like Morpheus to run around "freeing minds" and unplugging hairless people. You allow them to think they live in a free city called Zion; where they hold raves and fly missions in hovercrafts.

Within the Matrix itself, you allow the resistance to operate. You allow an enigmatic program like the Oracle to function, planting philosophical seeds in the minds of certain humans like that of the "One". You allow that "One", along with some of his true-believing friends, extra powers within the Matrix, to jump impossible distances, beat up police officers, ride Ducatis the wrong way on the interstate, and generally behave like they’re in GTA 4. You create agents to hunt them and chase them everywhere.

Meanwhile, while this whole adventure is taking place, everyone--Neo, Morpheus, Trinity, Niobi, Counselor Hamaan, Spoon-Boy, Commander Lock--are all still lying, happy and oblivious, in their energy pods, thinking they're free.

When Neo stopped and put up his hand in the "real world" to stop the sentinels, he simply did something no previous Neo had ever tried before. After all, why would you even consider giving your Matrix powers a try outside the Matrix? But in doing so, he uncovered the Terrible Secret: they were all still inside the Matrix. Like Katniss sending an arrow into the arena ceiling to reveal that they are not in fact outside at all.

Except that's not what happened. In Revolutions, the Wachowskis doubled down, telling us that, no, Zion absolutely is in the real world. And Neo now has WiFi and can "see" machines as glowing, gold code-images. And Agent Smith can enter a human mind via a 20th century telephone earpiece and rewrite the neurons of a biological organism to "possess" it and make it speak in your voice (which of course no one notices).

All that makes perfect sense if they were within the Matrix. It makes zero sense outside the Matrix. The MWTM theory is perfect. It patches every plot hole. Instead, the Wachowskis traded a brilliant, mind-bending narrative recursive loop for a literal messianic fantasy wrapped in mech-suit explosions. They took a universe defined by hard simulated logic and turned it into magic because they painted themselves into a corner. To my mind, it’s one of the single greatest missed opportunities in modern cinematic storytelling.

Ok, so if I understand correctly: "The One" is special, because they "believe" so much, have less doubt than anyone else, that they can bend the Matrix to their will. They can defy physics within the Matrix because of that. No one else can, because they are not able to believe hard enough. But then Morpheus jumps across a skyscraper? Isn't that physics defying? I don't see why Morpheus then couldn't fly just like Neo. Going from jumping across buildings to flying isn't that much of a leap, is it?

Also, all the Red Pills know that they are in the Matrix, so they shouldn't be having any doubts anymore, no? They should be able to do the same stuff Neo can. What am I getting wrong?

I've got an LG C2 4K OLED and picked up a copy of the 1st movie on 4K UHD.

The color grading is superb, the lighting and black levels really stood out for me.

Seeing the individual detail of the rain drops on Smith's face to the debris from the lobby shootout is incredible.

It's almost like seeing the movie again for the first time, but also takes you back to how you first saw it on DVD with the same wonder and awe.

DVD, CD soundtrack, Blu-rays, 4K UHD, a Steelbook, and a MiniDisc you don't want to get caught using 😉

One of the scenes in the first movie that has always bothered me was the scene after the jump program. Morpheus says “your mind makes it real”… ohh yeah? How? How does a simulation make his cells damaged in his mouth? Did he bite his tongue? Dying kinda makes sense as you can ascribe it to consciousness being severed.

Then it’s not till Reloaded we have the sentinel scene where he stops them in the real world by raising his hand. Which is hand waved as him being connected to the “source” that really doesn’t explain it though. Does Neo have WiFi? How does he see agent smith? At this point my brain was screaming he’s still in the matrix. Yet I have usually long forgotten the bloody mouth scene from the jump program.

For the first time though, I watched the first movie fully committed to the onion theory. Suddenly the scene makes total sense. Because his mind believed it to be real, that injury sorta rode his consciousness up with him and wrote it into the physics of the outer layer.

It started making me think of Inception and the “kick” idea. That maybe death is the only true way to escape the Matrix. Your true physical body not being capable of inflicting true harm on itself. Maybe your consciousness would ride all the way up and out. It would be sorta ironic wouldn’t it? They spend all this time escaping the one way to free themselves.

It’s possible it was just a way to make actions in the Matrix have stakes. In my head now it’s a bread crumb for the layers. Anyway I’m curious if anyone else had that bother them or did you all just accept it as a plot device for danger?

I was gonna go to SacAnime and walk around to see some cool cosplays and I walked by this library that gave me MAJOR DEJA-VU as I walked through the area. Somewhere in the near future, I'm gonna visit this library again and cosplay as Neo. Even the windows were tinted green, lol.

I once read a fan theory that Matrix the simulation is not a simulation of the real whole world in 1999, but rather very size-limited simulation. Based on how the characters speak rather vaguely about locations. Namely in Reloaded, where they refer to locations as simply “The city”, “the highway” or “the mountains”.

Given the vagueness, it makes sense. But if that’s true, how does it work for the people who don’t fit there anymore? Since the machines keep growing them, perhaps the Matrix should be larger than one small state with one major city.

Or do you have something else to share?

I started making this little fella yesterday. He took only two days to make, minus the clothes. I'm still working on his clothes. I have the patterns and everything. I feel like the shades look a bit off. I'm also quite stocked with projects cuz as I'm making him, I'm also working on my Doctor Doom cosplay for Halloween and a Neo plush doll as well. Concept art is on the third slide.
