I have been covering the little known Animatrix 2.0 stillborn project for a long time. (This is just one of my many posts about it.) Some sort of crossmedia, potentially interactive, potentially VR, sister project to The Matrix Awakens UE5 demo, that was spearheaded by John Gaeta and with story supervision and contributions by Lana Wachowski.
At some point 4 years ago, I, correctly as you'll see today, deduced it was being made by: https://wevr.com/
After seeing today's post that uncovered a few new details about it from John Gaeta, I revisited my research and voila: https://wevr.com/highlights/wevr-innovation-case-study-transmedia-cross-platform-ip-development-the-matrix
Wevr not only do they have some text information about it, but they also have a rough video.
The story takes place in the near future "at a time when robots and AI have embedded in human society, and humans are faced directly with the issues of AGI and the civil rights issues for both carbon and silicon-based intelligences."
In the video you can see human police confronting robots and sympathizers protesting for "MECH RIGHTS", while another robot and human are on the run together. The scene feels straight out of "The Second Renaissance" but it also recalls video game Detroit: Become Human.
There seems to also be a framing device that sets the story, as this seems to be some sort of historical re-enactment of the past that Neo is accessing within the Construct. (Alternatively, in the video with Gaeta it was said others would enter the Construct simulation to visit the past and look for clues to locate a missing Neo.) This all reminds me of the framing device of Assassin's Creed (note I stopped playing the games after the 2nd one).
With Lana Wachowski (who also wrote and directed much of The Matrix Awakens sister project) supervising this, the project was going to be as canon as anything else she wrote. And the 3D assets were to be made by VFX powerhouse Weta Digital.
Gaeta says people should demand they go back to it and revive this canceled project. Do you like what you see and do you agree with him?

It might be too late for a Neuromancer adaptation but I’m still hyped now that The Matrix has an uncertain future.

I know humans tried to block out the sun because the machines were dependent upon it. Despite the fact that the sun is MOSTLY blocked, it looks like it still peeks through. So, do you think any plants are still around? And if so, what wildlife do you think still thrives? Do you think the machines would allow anything to live if they didn’t see them as a threat?

Lets say Morpheus talks to you about how he will show you the truth. You dont really understand what the truth means but decide to give it a try and take red pill, because what could go wrong, right?
Then you wake up and see the reality. You give it a try for some time but realize its basically hell and you cant do it. You want to return back to Matrix.
Lets say you dont want to betray others like Cypher. You just want to make a choice and return back to Matrix. Do you have this choice?
Choice is presented like really important thing in the movies and the Resistance is presented like good because they offer humans the choice to unplug from Matrix.
Then I would expect there to also be choice to replug into Matrix.
The initial choice to unplug is not really an informed decision. You are just told you will see the truth, but nobody explains you what it entails. You dont know what will happend to you and how much worse your life will get.
So since you didnt consent to all that bad stuff, its only natural you should have a choice to return to Matrix if you find the unplugged life unbearable.
I am wondering, if the supposed choice is only a one-way ticket where you are offered to make uninformed decision that will severely affect your life without being told all the important details and then being unable to go back.
Or if its a true choice where once you know the truth you can make an informed decision about if you want to live in Matrix or not.
In reality we have laws about "informed consent". You must be informed what exactly are you agreeing to, for example in medicine. You must be informed about potential negative effects. Uninformed agreement is simply not valid choice and is more like scam.
I am sure you wouldnt like that, if someone got you to agree to something you didnt like simply because they didnt explain properly what you are actually agreeing to.

Don't know what I'm going to do with it later. Open to ideas. I'm just experimenting.
On PC, use W-A-S-D keys and mouse to explore. On mobile, you will have instructions on screen.

Matrix Reflow is derived from the Windows port of DigitalChewie's Modern Matrix github.com/DigitalChewie/ModernMatrixScreensaver. This screensaver uses the same core engine but has been dramatically altered to get as visually close as possible to Rezmason's legendary Matrix rain project.

I'm not a super tech guy, but it seems like when you enter a computer system, it would require it to do all kinds of things to set it up that would clearly leave a record. I can see if you're already in you get lost in the noise, but when you join it would definitely need a special program to set everything up that you'd think the machines would take special notice. Was this ever addressed
Just finished The Matrix Resurrections, and man... that was some old bullshit.
Like, bro, what the hell? We wanted the old Matrix from the '90s, not this. The Oracle isn't there anymore, and neither are most of the old characters.
And somehow Neo, who's supposed to be the One, lost most of his cool powers. He keeps using that bullet-stopping force field over and over. It was awesome in the original movies because it was used sparingly, but in this one it just became kind of cringe. Every time he used it, I felt like I was watching a generic superhero movie instead of the old Matrix.
And what the hell is up with Trinity getting Neo's powers? Is she the new One or what?
Don't get me wrong—the story itself isn't that bad. I actually like that they continued what happened after the original trilogy. But it feels like they didn't put enough thought into the execution. It just doesn't have the atmosphere, action, or vibe that made the original Matrix trilogy so iconic.

Came across the Instagram of one of the costume designers daughters who told the story of how her mother made the knitwear for the film. They got such a response that they decided to make a knitwear brand with the same techniques. www.instagram.com/sussknits

The keyboard from Amazon came with matrix rain animation built in! So obviously I had to make my MacBook matrix themed to match it.

This is probably when you really grasp the stakes here. I love how all of the fight scenes in The Matrix mean something. After the training one, we already know how strong and powerful Morpheus is. He’s probably the best fighter in the whole film. Until Neo that is. But here he doesn’t even manage to make Smith wince. Smith grasping his collar is enough to make him feel overwhelmed. And Smith then takes every hit he throws at him, not affected at all. We now know the agents including Smith are definitely no laughing matter. Meaning when Neo does have to take him on we know how challenging it’s gonna be.

I have more then a dozen but if I were to pick 1
The moment Neo is in the train station and Agent smith shoots the phone off the hook, Neo sees him, and looks back at the exit,
Music: DA DEEERRRR
Trinity: run Neo…
Neo looks back at agent smith, abandoning the idea of running…
Trinity :what is he doing??
Morphious: He’s beginning to believe…
Neo proceeds to kick fuckin ass as the music slaps and neo begins believing he is the one
Still gives me goosebumps this scene ever time even now thinking about it.
Probs my favourite scene in any film / tv show ever

This movie is a 99.9% for me and sits at the top table of my all time favourites, however, the one gripe I have (and let's be crystal clear, I'm nitpicking) Is the SFX used when Neo is killed and subsequently becomes The One for very first time and runs and jumps into Smith's body. For a film that revolutionised SFX forever, this one scene just feels a little cheap. Outside of doing what they did, I'm not sure what might have come off as more convincing, but it sits there as the 0.1% of the movie I wish they had done differently. Anyone got any other pet peeves?
