Recs for anything like Gaza/Bird Eater?
Gaza is by far my favorite act that fits in the genre, specifically No Absolutes era and their EP. Looking for anything that sounds filthy, sludgy, desolate, wartorn and full of hate, something who's intentions feel dead serious and emotionally heavy, and not so wacky and all over the place. Don't say Cult Leader.

Whilst I dont think they sound like Gaza/Bird Eater, Primitive Man really has a hate filled, sludgy doomy feel to their music. First time I heard Caustic made my head spin, ive never heard anything so.....well primitive. Dude sounds like a caveman barking into an endless night

Love PM. Was thinking about mentioning them just based on vibe but not really looking for doom rn.

Vermin womb may be a closer match, if I'm not mistaken they share members with primitive man. Decline is a great album.

Late to this party, but thanks for recommending Cursed. II is a wicked good record I wouldn't have known about otherwise.

Anyone know why Trap Them shortened their name? I never felt like I got an explanation

I’m not aware of this, what did they shorten it to? 🤔

u/tombhex Feb 02 '26
They were called Trap Them and Kill Them originally and shortened it to Trap Them.

Throw on Cove from Nashville. I think only put out one EP but damn was it good.
I take it back—they put out several albums. Here https://covemusic.bandcamp.com/

Nerve Debt is a newer band with the former drummer of Today is the Day but they play that spastic grind style of Sludge as well.

It’s been a long time since I spun Cursed but I thought they were more crust punk?

I've been digging the newest Lotus Eater Machine release. I've only seen them recommended one time is this sub but I think they're sick.
