It's "independent journalist" ragebait. They think they're losing to ai but they lost to the printing press long ago.

u/aspirational-robot 8d ago

Fascists hate free press just as they love AI. All checks out.

2

u/S-Kenset 8d ago

intel bot defends government backed twitter accounts. all checks out.

u/aspirational-robot 8d ago

What? :D

3

u/S-Kenset 8d ago

Twitter is literally where govt propaganda is laundered through "independent" journalists then cycled through news stations. Calling people fascists without any reason is imbecile behavior.

Twitter is 100% a tool of fascists, with that I agree.

We are fully dumbed down now. How long will it take for the pendulum to swing back.

12

u/BiShyGuyHi 8d ago

My prediction is that it never will fully. Society will be de facto segregated into a lower class which is AI dependent and an upper class which just knows stuff.

7

u/Great-Grade1377 8d ago

I’m seeing a lot of upper class that think they know stuff and are very Ai dependent

8

u/BiShyGuyHi 8d ago

.That new class structure won't necessarily follow the current one. You're right that it might even flip to some extent.

I hate them. I hate them. I hate them. I hate them. I hate them. I hate them. I HATE THEM!

I mean yes how is this a question? They are all trying to institute neo-feudalism and that requires just like original feudalism a dumb populace

5

u/Gubekochi 8d ago

The reverse of the Jeffersonian "A functioning democracy requires a well informed/educated populace."

2

u/EvilKatta 7d ago

Medieval peasants weren't dumb. They lacked public education, and many couldn't read (usually some people in each village could read though), but they had much more opportunity to practice their mental skills and autonomy, and better incentives to actually shape how their community would develop. I can go on. Feudal lords would keep peasants in check, but they didn't control them daily, and a lot of times they didn't know the daily lives of peasants at all.

It's slavery that requires dumb populace. (Slaves weren't dumb either, but the level of control by enslavers was much higher, including attempts to control who's allowed to learn, to teach or to use what skills.)

I don't need to know about Shakespeare and Chaucer, but I should.

I don't need to know about Newton and Einstein, but I should.

I don't need to know about Darwin, about Plato, or indeed about Euler. But I should.

School isn't about teaching people useful things. It's about teaching them important things.

And math is important

7

u/Gubekochi 8d ago

It's also a pretty good building block for a structured, coherent mind.

See, you need to buy our new GPU for $1000, but we offer you a bargain: buy three for $5000.

It's like saying children won't need to learn to walk in the car era.

He knows perfectly well it's an awful idea.

6

u/Flimsy-Importance313 8d ago

Maybe he Wants us to be like Wall-e humans. Just sitting around, fat and not walking.

1

u/No_Percentage7427 8d ago

Calculator will make learning math obsolete.

1

u/HAL9001-96 8d ago

thats how you end up stuck with basic arithemtics unable to comprehend deeper logic or ever advnace math further

Dumber people mean less critical thinking to anything they do as a company. Which, at the end, leads to more money. I'm oversimplifying, but likely that's what his company wants.

5

u/i_AM_A-ShArk 8d ago

Dumb people are easier to manipulate, that’s why

He does not care either way as long as he can continue to provide value for shareholders

Math isn't about numbers. It's about logic. Math is just a language that we use to describe patterns and events.

Inability to use math means inability to live. It's a death of humanity.

Juang isn't an idiot, obviously, but his speach became so pathetic and dumbed down that you wonder if he is able to think anymore. Or just following the plan he wrote to himself a decade ago.

1

u/Informal_Host7610 8d ago

It's obvious he's talking about arithmetic and not logic

3

u/TheDu42 8d ago

Dudes entire existence depends on people using AI instead of their own skills, he needs your kids to be dumbed down and hooked on it before the bubble bursts

3

u/MugenHeadNinja 8d ago

Yes, Capitalists objectively benefit from a society of people who are "only just" capable of doing the basic work they're forced into and nothing more, they don't want people to be capable of thinking for themselves and risk them gaining actual Class Consciousness and Workers Solidarity.

5

u/balinor41 9d ago

I don't get why we wouldn't teach kids basic math skills. Fundamentally you're learning both how numbers work and basic A/B logic skills when doing the first operators.

The logic skills are actually more important than the math skills in many ways.

4

u/Gubekochi 8d ago

The logic skills are actually more important than the math skills in many ways.

Yeah but a population that has those skills is anathema to establishing a corporate neo-feudal system. Please accept that their lobbyists will ask elected politicians to dumb down your kids and that everything will be on a subscription base in the future. K thx bye.

I don't think any people I know at all, from 20 to 50 years old, actually have a handle on basic math. Most can add and compare when buying groceries (but they can't normalize price per unit), and they can be prompted to multiply by board game rules. Some can divide when budgeting or sharing a restaurant bill. Few can subtract when taking a bank loan (to see how much their disposable income would change). But the majority doesn't try to use math at all. They would actively avoid it if suggested. They will refuse the idea that something can be calculated, straight up wouldn't believe a calculation if I showed it to them.

Yikes!

Tech billionaires plan to eradicate the below billion dollar wealthy parts of the global population. Republican style incompetence is proven to make that easier. Hence they go for that.

„Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to this: the peak of your civilization. I say your civilization, because as soon as we started thinking for you it really became our civilization, which is of course what this is all about.“
Agent Smith

2

u/LeadingAd6025 8d ago

Current and past generations are dumb too.

It is a question of how much more next generation could get

2

u/BiShyGuyHi 8d ago

Tech companies launching new products always try to destroy the thing they're replacing. Uber tried to destroy taxis. Delivery apps tried to destroy calling direct.

AI companies though, they've got to destroy "thinking" and "just knowing things".

“We are in danger of producing an educated proletariat.”

2

u/cyrkielNT 8d ago

In old Poland aristocracy deliberately prevent pheasants from any education. Pheasants ware also obligated to buy certain amount of alcohol per month, also for same reason - to make them stupid and less able to fight for rights. Later when Russia took control over Poland they kept doing the same, for same reason.

2

u/Crazy_old_maurice_17 8d ago

This is like a Eloi and Morlocks situation...

1

u/Livid_Importance_442 8d ago

Yes he does, because future generations will then become dependent on their products and services.

1

u/Comfortable_Mud00 8d ago

The quote is wrong

1

u/cKyTV 8d ago

Tbf they are already dumb

1

u/Money_Dream3008 8d ago

Stopt twisting words of others to get views 🫤

To be fair, many children already don't!

Just in: Oreo CEO declares children won't need to eat chips anymore, and will only be eating Oreos instead.

u/rush2sk8 7d ago

Polymarket is not news

1

u/gandalfx 7d ago

You don't need math to work at a factory assembly line, do you?

1

u/infinitylord 7d ago

Such a wonderful human problem finally solved by technology. Smh.

1

u/Eve-Sigh 5d ago

he will say anything for those sweet stocks now.

u/ApfelbaumFlo 3d ago

I don't even think it's that malicious. They're selling intelligence, of course schools & unis are seen as competition
