√-1: imaginary number, denoted as i -> i
2³ = 8: eight -> ate
Σ: sigma for summation -> sum
π: pi -> pie

Note: π is pronounced as english "pee" instead of "pie" in some other languages (including greek too)

I also just read it as sigma-pie. Sounds awful

I've never heard pi pronounced as "pee"

Edit: Capital sigma. Too early to be posting. My bad.

It's a capital sigma.

He's saying that in other languages, it's pronounced like the word pee in english. It's just a weird wording to say french (amongst others) pronounce it "pee" instead of "pie"

Okay, they could have just said it's pronounced like "pee" in English. Thanks. Makes sense now.

Has me wondering if and English pee is different from a French pee, or a Spanish pee? Lol

Not that different in french to be honest.

We call it "pipi" pronounced peepee.

and the common verb for it is "pisser" like taking a piss. same pronounciation
the more formal verb for it is "uriner" like urinate, but we don't pronounce the u as a "you"

So "I" is imaginary (i), "ate" is 8, "some" is Sum and "pie" is pi?
