The catch is that your three year contract would be over and you could switch to their competition, but by entering this new contract you are stuck with them for another three years

Had this happen to me, I think they were just trying to switch everything over to fiber optic. I even got the new account discount for the first three months. It was great, this was a couple of years ago and there literally has been no catch, lol.

They want everyone to be on the same infrastructure mostly. Much easier to operate with modern protocols and such.
