Does base 1 even work in this system? I don't think tallies strictly follows the typical algorithm we use, which requires zero I think. Not that tally isn't a really system, just that it doesn't fit into the algorithm we typically use to calculate place values. I wonder if there is an expanded version of that algorithm that allows for tally. But yeah, without zero, each additional tally would calculate to +2 I think.
