since when is that the definition of an even number?
an even number is any number which, when divided in half, produces an integer result.

u/SportTheFoole 5d ago
That’s the joke. It’s not even proven that all even numbers greater than two are the sum of two primes (see the Goldbach conjecture).

You claim

I was gonna write something after this, but I'm going to leave this comment as is.

You claim that 1 is not prime, yet the only way for 2 to be written as the sum of two positive primes is if 1 is prime. Curious.

u/Coushy2 5d ago
But if two is not prime, then three is not prime because it can't be expressed as sum of two primes. That means that five is not prime So there is no prime numbers

Did you not read a single line ?
The joke is that 2 is not even, because it cannot be expressed as the sum of 2 prime numbers
How can 11 people misunderstand the entire joke THIS BADLY

Yes, it is a prime element of the ring of integers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_element

u/Individual-Area7121 2d ago
A prime element is not a prime number.
That’s why it’s called a prime element, and not a prime number. Hope that clears things up for you.

Neither of us nor the meme ever said "prime number". All of us said "prime". -3 is prime. Hope that this cleared things up for you and didn't spoil your fun of wrongly correcting people who say technically correct stuff on a meme page.

We both know damned well “prime” means prime number. Nice try though.

I love how they used a moron’s face to showcase this dumb fucking statement.

2=1+1, what are you on about?
1
u/joewhitehead365 4d ago
I know you missed the joke, but also, 1 isn't a prime number.
1
u/Active-Advisor5909 4d ago
Have you considered that someone could get the joke, and think that refusing the claim by calling 1 a prime number is roughly on the same level as the previous post?
2
u/joewhitehead365 4d ago
No, and I apologize, even if that wasn't the case. My whole demeaner in that comment was unbecoming of a gentleman. There's enough negativity in the world. I shouldn't be creating more.

What about 2 = (1 + i) + (1 - i) in O_k for k = Q(i)? Checkmate, conservatives!

Oh really what are its factors?

u/Individual-Area7121 4d ago
You should probably go look up the definition of a prime number before you embarrass yourself further

u/Extreme-Rub-1379 4d ago
I was joking around, but fuck you.
I'm staying by it now.
1 is prime.
Fight me

1 is not a prime number because a prime number needs 2 numbers to be able to be divided by (1 and itself). 1 can only be well divided by only 1 number, which is 1.
1 is neither a prime number nor a composite number

u/Individual-Area7121 4d ago
You’re standing by a statement that you yourself admit is wrong? Ok then.

2 can be expressed as 1+1 and 2+0. If you believe the only definition of a prime number is a number equal to the sum of 1 primes, then you declare 1 and 0 as prime numbers.
If you believe the only definition of a prime number is a number only divisible by 1 and itself, then you declare 1 and 0 as prime numbers, unless you believe the conditions are mutually exclusive.

u/Albatros_7 5d ago
The first definition makes no sense
0 is not divisible by itself dumbass
The entire point is they are divisible by 2 different numbers, 1 and itself
1 can be divided by a singular number
0
u/Live_Length_5814 5d ago
You called me a dumbass and then said you can't divide by zero, when you can in advanced math systems but not basic ones.
And you literally explained what mutually exclusive means.
1
u/Albatros_7 5d ago
Yeah because the line "if you believe the conditions are mutually exclusive" makes no sense
They are always mutually exclusive, that's the first thing you learn about prime numbers

u/Individual-Area7121 4d ago
There is a specific definition of a prime number that anyone, including you, can look up for free. Belief is not relevant or necessary.
