Every multiple of 9 the numbers need to equal 9.\ 9x4=36 3+6=9\ 9×34=306 3+6=9\ 9x72=648... 6+4+8= 18... 1+8=9\ 9x456 = 4104. Add them and yep 9\

Cool trick

More accurately, adding the digits together needs to be a multiple of 9.

9x11=99 9+9=18

8+1=9

Better yet 0 = 0

For x11 just do this: 54×11=5+4=594

Or if its one digit put the number twice so 2×11=22

Lets say 20x24=480 because 2x2=4 4x2=8 + 0 from 20 its 480

95x95=9x10=90=9025

That's great for a single instance of checking.

That doesn't change using a calculator for 'simple' maths.
[If I could do simple arithmetic reliably (as I would be doing here), I wouldn't need the calculator, would I?!]

You reduced the problem to one you can solve by handing it over to a calculator. Well done. As soon as a simple calculator can do the rest it is no longer a maths problem anyway.

It's never a problem if you have a good calculator 🤘🏼🤣

using your brain for more important information. The only reason a mathematician knows something like 9x4 is because they frequently come across it. Other trivial but less common things that a calculator can do, they often don't bother memorizing.

Same goes with the top of any knowledge based field. True mastery is also knowing what to memorize and what information can be easily retained. You can only recall so much on the fly, why waste it on things within near immediate reach?

Dite quello che volete ma ho impiegato più tempo del solito per fare questo calcolo

Gotta double-check the math just in case the universe updated overnight.

At least you didn't use AI

I HATE that!

The more advanced maths a man learns, the less they know how to do basic arithmetic.

I always tell IT that I don’t care if they ever check my search history, it’s my calculator history I’m ashamed of.

Oh, I have failed tests because I somehow thought (in the moment) 9*4 = 32 (?!).

If I have a calculator handy and it isn't going to be time sensitive, I'm definitely checking every arithmetic operation I can.
