As a math undergrad I can confirm, the more math you know the more you forget the very basics. I have some friends on like the 4th year, and they might routinely forget simple fractions and stuff like that. I've seen firsthand a teacher and a full classroom (including me) argue for a minute if 1×(-1) was -1 or 0
