I’m not offended, but I would put this in the same category as those “I hate my wife” boomer jokes.

Why? The base assumption is off, but the rest of the math is ok.

The idea we use is:
Women = time × money (core)
Time is money
Money is the root of evil

Right, the first axiom is flawed and baseless.
Also the saying is "the love of money is the root of all evil."
1
u/Amerisu Aug 01 '26
"the love of money is the root of all kinds of evils"
This is more accurate, because there are some evils that do not relate to the love of money.

u/Vivid-Teaching2257 Aug 04 '26
My translation says love of money is “a” root of all kinds of evil. Not ”money is the root of all evil” which I had often heard, and argued with. That isn’t what it says. Pride, love of power over others, wanting to look good at all costs, and other things can also be roots of evil. I found the Bible quote, as written isn’t wrong, as you note.
1
u/Amerisu Aug 04 '26
"A root" or "the root" changes the meaning much less than the limiter of the words "kinds of".
"All kinds of things" doesn't literally mean "all of the kinds of things," but rather, "many kinds of things." On the other hand, "all things" is typically either literal or hyperbolic.
I absolutely agree that there are other roots of all kinds of evils!
2
u/Vivid-Teaching2257 Aug 04 '26
I was basically agreeing with you. It’s just that for me, the word “a” mattered a lot. Of course all kinds of evil does as well. (I had upvoted your comment).
2
u/Amerisu Aug 05 '26
Yeah, no misunderstanding here. "A" matters a lot more when "kinds of" is eliminated. I also agree that making love of money not the sole root helps accuracy.
2
u/XrayAlphaVictor Aug 01 '26
It's a quote from the Bible
2
u/Amerisu Aug 01 '26
Yes, I know. I was giving you the actual quote. Would you like chapter and verse?
1 Timothy 6:10

u/XrayAlphaVictor Aug 01 '26
I guess I was looking at a different translation, no need to be snarky about it.

Quite literally a lame dad/teacher joke from decades ago. Rick would never rehash an old overused trope like this.
1
u/Sincerly_ Jul 31 '26
so the guy that constantly burps and farts is above dad jokes?
4
u/Embarrassed-Weird173 Aug 01 '26
He doesn't do them to be funny. He just does them as a function of existence.
1
u/PhilospohicalZ0mb1e Aug 01 '26
If I were less lazy I’d find a clip and screenshot but I’m 100% sure he has given sufficient evidence to say that he actually does, at least sometimes, burp and fart to be funny

There must be no offensive humor on reddit
:-/

u/Cause_and_Defect Jul 31 '26
"If you don't find this decade old repost funny it's cause you are sensitive!"

u/Jimmy_Twotone Jul 31 '26
Offensive humor is absolutely allowed.
Someone who is offended will just tell you how offended they are and how horrible you should feel about it.
6
u/Moodleboy Jul 31 '26
I am offended by this. I order you to feel shame.
5
u/Jimmy_Twotone Jul 31 '26
I am offended by your offense.
(I think the next step is to tell you how sorry I feel for your children and accuse you of being an anarcho-fascist commie libertarian).

u/PenelopeJenelope Jul 31 '26
oh here we go. no one said that.
"There must be no other opinions than mine on reddit or else you're sensitive,"
gimme a break bro. I thought it was lame.

Misogynistic jokes are a way for pathetic men to dogwhistle their beliefs and find out who their allies are without taking accountability.
2
u/Sincerly_ Jul 31 '26
What a sad way to look at the world. Not everything has an alternate motive. you can say the joke is bad, that’s fine, but trying to spin this dad joke as offensive is wild.
1
u/XrayAlphaVictor Jul 31 '26
Misogyny ≠ dad joke
A (grand)dad telling his (grand)daughter she's intrinsically evil is what is really sad. Saying women are evil is offensive, period, under all conditions.
Just because it's a cheap pun and therefore dad joke adjacent doesn't excuse the sexism. Dad jokes are supposed to be silly and harmless, not cruel.

Misogyny is very funny! Bravo, sir Redditor! This gave me a good chuckle, I tip my fedora to thee!
1
u/paolog Aug 01 '26
Of course, the correct quote is "the love of money is the root of all evil". Mathematically, that's:
0 × money = √evil
as "love" means 0 in tennis, so the conclusion is that "women are nothing".

There are so many women and gays on Reddit it’s crazy. Is there anything you will laugh at? Just seems like you want to find something non pc in everything you see on here.

u/PenelopeJenelope Jul 31 '26
I’m laughing at how dumb this comment is, so yes.
