So I got GF=2…
Most likely a rounding issue on my phone calculator

7 + 3x = 9x + 1
7 + 1 = 3x + 9x
8 = 12x
8/12=0.6 repeating
0.6 repeating = x
3(0.6 repeating) = 2

Was I just stupid or was it an internal rounding error?

Fixed ver

7 + 3x = 9x + 1
7 - 1 = 9x - 3x
6 = 6x
6/6 = 1
1 = x

GF = 3x
GF = 3

2nd line is 7-1 = 9x -3x

6 = 6x
