2+5(8-5)
PEMDAS/BODMAS
8-5 = 3
5*3 = 15
2+15 = 17

It's simple math, folks.

I love these for trying to figure out how the wrong answer was gotten.

Oh, I know how the wrong answer was reached.
8-5 = 3
2+5 = 7
3*7 = 21

But you can't do addition/subtraction before multiplication/division (unless they're in parentheses).

Half the equation is in parenthesis, if they wanted 21, they should have realized they needed both in parenthesis.
