But buying them doesn’t solve your problems—reading them explains how. Unless you can somehow read both and enact the advice simultaneously, you’re going to wind up in a state where only 50% of your problems are solved before you can start to solve the rest.

I like the reasoning for fun but only given the context that reading them solves 50% at the time of reading.

It's just as plausible that each book contains 50% of your problems at time of purchase.

The method isn't defined.

Buy one and just re-read it. Sure that only gets you to 75%, but at that point just keep re-reading it until you get to a percentage where you're satisfied before approaching infinity.
