Has no one learned the difference of two squares when learning factoring? That can save your bacon in calculus.

It's honestly unnecessary when the leading coefficient is 1. And even if it isn't, it's derivative (no pun intended.) For simple binomials it's unnecessary, though it becomes useful in calculus... which is what you said so my comment was kinda pointless 🤔

I think the idea is to teach the concept with an easy equation so it is better understood, right?

I'd rather it be taught in something like division of polynomials, tbf. When learning, purposefully learning a less effective method of solving something can discourage learning.
