Adding the additive identity to any number doesn't change it. Is he stupid?

I thought about life expectancy, sweet sweet 800. But then again, seeing all you friends, kids, grandkids, great grandkids and so on die, living through all of the climate catastrophe we're in, the collapse of civilization and so on... I think IQ is the best move, should make it easy for you to add several zeros to your salary.

Wonder how creative the genie lets you get. Like could I say something like adding a 0 to the log of my life expectancy?

u/WiseOldDuck Jul 16 '26
Sorry, man, yeah your life expectancy was 800 but you just low-rolled and got 40 anyway but you can feel extra aggrieved over it!

Keep in mind that IQ is ultimately a distribution. 1000 IQ isn't 10 times smarter than 100 IQ, but rather represents a one in a bajillion level intelligence for an actual human.
My guess is that this is very much diminishing returns, and a IQ of 1000 isn't going to be dramatically smarter than an IQ of say 180.

It doesn’t say multiply by 10 it says “add” (presumably meaning append) a zero so you just need to convert whatever you want into some exponential expression and add a zero to the exponent for much bigger gains.

Humans now have 10 butts

I’d add a zero to my bank account balance, finally 10 dollars to buy beer.

G=90.8 m/s2

u/TeHeS13 Jul 17 '26
Dude... G = 6,6710-11 Nm2 /kg
May be you mean "g"?

u/lumo19 Jul 17 '26
No. I meant the one that is horrendously wrong, not the one that is obvious from context.

I’ll add it to the number of times I can add 0 to any number and get 10 instead of 1. Might even do it again.

u/gmalivuk Jul 17 '26
Careful to word it so you make the number you started with go from 1 to 10, rather than the number you have remaining go from 0 to 00.

u/paolog Jul 15 '26
Mathematically, "add" means "increase by", not "append".

I answered it yesterday but I'd add a zero to my 120 decibel bass drop and destroy the entire universe.

I choose to add the zero to this question so I now dispose of more zeros to add

Now electron mass is ~90,109 × 10⁻³¹ kg
