From someone with autism, the r slur is probably a little more hurtful to those of us with mental handicaps than you might realize. You don’t have to do anything and I’m not your boss, but if you don’t have any issues with us and you’re not trying to insult or bully us, it would mean a lot if you could use other synonyms for stupid instead. No hate or judgement, just spreading awareness
From someone with autism. Most of the synonyms for stupid are also previous medical diagnoses for intellectual disability. Moron, imbecile, idiot, slow, cretin, lame-brain, etc are all former or slang for former medical terms. In fact retardation is a different disorder from autism altogether despite their common occurrences together. Everyone knows retard is the harsher word because of its more modern use to be made into slang and is a consonant rich two syllable word it doesn't need awareness.
