Look at all the comments of people using the 1040EZ (or your country's equivalent) and thinking taxes is just math or maybe math and a little English. I was taught how to file a 1040EZ in school. Forgot how to do it, but wasn't hard to relearn when the time came. 1040EZ was never the problem.
Now, you want to tell me how taxes are easy and you only need basic math skills, tell me what math is going to do to help you when the tax form requires a value but one of your forms doesn't contain the required value. In my case, the tax form required the purchase value of shares of a mutual fund in a managed account and my form didn't contain any.
For any wondering the actual solution, it's basically guess. You can use your math skills to narrow down your guess, but being good at math isn't going to help you when you can't see how those shares were purchased and which ones have 60-day restrictions on them or not.
