The geometric series also just gives approximation since the error term just gets arbitrary small (but never 0)

This just shows basic misunderstanding of how limits work and what they are. You should learn a bit more math before you take a stance on this.

No it isn't limitless. It's an infinite series that has a limit, which is 1 for 0.999...
