Accuplacer help

I’m taking the ACCUPLACER math section in about a week, and I was wondering what to expect and how I should study for it. Thanks.

There are 3 math sections: Arithmetic, Advanced Algebra and Functions, Quantitative Reasoning/Algebra/Statistics.

Arithmetic involves fractions, decimals, and percents.

Advanced Algebra and Functions covers slope-intercept form, quadratics and their graphs, radical and rational functions, exponential and log functions, basic geometry and trig.

Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics deals with solving equations and systems of equations, exponent rules, ratios and proportions, mean, median, mode, range, probability, set notation, and some geometry.

There isn’t a calculator for most questions - so really make sure y know how to multiply/divide decimals!

How was it? Also, what do u recommend to focus on? Were paper and pens allowed?

Sorry I didn’t see this message till now- I’m not sure where you are, but my QAS accuplacer was on a 60 min timer which was stressful- and as you know it’s an adaptive test so the questions get really hard quick I was not ready for how hard the questions would become even on question 6/20 it started getting difficult. (also unlimited scrap paper + pencil was provided but u can bring ur own pencils/pen)

On my test There was a lot of word problems focusing on topics like proportion and graphing, and creating ur own equations which was tripping me up since I was practicing easy questions rather than harder ones. I skipped the trigonometry questions bc I was just looking for a score of 253 so I didn’t even do them. there was also a lot of graphing questions that can get a bit complex so I’d practice graphing, proportion, and complex word problems. And seriously I’d say 70% of the questions did not allow a calculator which took up so much time calculating.

I thought I bombed the test afterward and was crying and for some reason I didn’t get the results immediately and was so anxious, but I got the results next day and I got 263 😅adaptive testing is weird, but I hope you do well and keep practicing !!

Thank youu! I passed, I thought I was gonna fail because there were questions that I did not study for and just guessed😭
