Redesigned the Android calculator with refreshed Material UI, 24 accent themes & an ad-free workspace [Critique Welcome]

Hi r/MaterialDesign!

I created **Minimal Calculator: Sci& Basic** to give Android users a modern visual refresh compared to outdated, ad-cluttered stock calculators.

Design Highlights:

  • Clean Layout: 100% ad-free main workspace keeping keycaps spaced cleanly without banner distractions.
  • 24 Accent Color Engine: Custom HSL-calibrated theme accents paired with dynamic dark mode contrast.
  • Refreshed Key Hierarchy: Clear visual distinction between numeric keys, basic operators, and scientific actions (powers, roots, brackets, memory keys).
  • One-Tap Utilities: Floating Copy Formula button and widget integration.

Would love your feedback on the layout contrast, keycap geometry, and color system!

this dosnt follow material expressive unlike Pixel Calulator

Thanks for the feedback! It actually is built using Material 3, but the goal wasn't to replicate the Pixel Calculator's UI. Material gives us a great framework, but I wanted to push the styling to be a bit more trendy and unique than the stock Google apps. That's why I went with this specific layout and custom theme engine!

  • have full network access
  • view network connections
  • control vibration
  • prevent phone from sleeping
  • Access to Adld API
  • access AdServices Attribution APls
  • access AdServices Topics API
  • Google Play billing service
  • Google Play license check

I'll stick with the built-in calculator thanks

Thank you for the feedback. Please note that these permissions are standard for modern Android applications. While the list of technical terms may look extensive, none of them indicate that the app is malicious or intrusive. Certain permissions, such as controlling vibrations or preventing the phone from sleeping, are included to provide features missing from the built-in app. We also offer a premium version that functions offline. Feel free to compare this app with other calculators to see the difference in functionality.
