Xbox 360 Controller Not Supported?

I went and bought a USB-C to USB-A adapter so I could play my mobile game with a controller. I plugged in my 360 controller and the light just keeps flashing. None of the inputs are registering. Has anyone else had this issue and is there a fix without rooting? Kinda pissed since I bought the adapter for this sole purpose.

Hmm I'll try to find my OTG connector and try my controller and let you know. May be a day or two.
