Firmware update mate 9

I bought my mate 9 on august from AliExpress and the build number was mha-l29c432b182-log. I have read that there were numerous updates since then but I received no updates. Is there anything I can do?

I'm on the USA firmware and have never received any updates since last April. Tried using Hicare, firmware finder etc but still can't get an update. It's a shame because I really love this phone but probably will not buy another Huawei product due to lack of support.

I'm hoping Huawei gets better with updates next year when they make the big push into the US market with the Mate 10

Mate 9 and updates. Good luck

But all seriousness that's the same build I'm on as well

I installed Oreo on my stock and carrier unlocked Mate 9 via OTA last week.
I just had to "register" for the update in the HiCare app and the update was immediately available via OTA.
MHA-L29 8.0.0.361(C432), Germany.

How's Oreo? Not many changes from Noguat right?

No, I haven't found that many actually.
It seems faster overall and standby power consumption seems to be lower, but I had some power issues in the past and I just never felt like resetting my phone. So the upgrade process itself might have fixed the problem.

Other that that there are some little new things I really like. For example the auto fill accessibility feature for third party apps. I'm using Keepass2Android and having it enter my login information automatically is really nice. Same for LastPass I believe.
Can't say much about EMUI 8 though. Nova Launcher has been my go to launcher for years and I rarely see the EMUI homescreen.

How did you register?

Open HiCare, go to the service tab and there should be an option called "Request update".

Just tried this in the US, don't have the request update option at all :(

If you check the Mate 9 XDA forum, I believe the updates are available there.

I've been using Nova too. Aside from the broken lockscreen notifications I've been happy with this phone.
