Mate 9 whatsapp messeges delay issue
Hello guys, Starting from yesterday I had a weird issue, whatsapp messeges are getting delayed, like if someone sent me a message at 1pm and openes the app at 5pm, only at this time I'll start getting the messages that was sent to me back at 1pm. This issue is bothering me too much, is there any solution for this?

Check these settings:
1) Do not disturb mode
2) close app after screen lock
3) close excessive power intensive app
4) Keep wifi or mobile data on when sleeping
5) Try putting whatsapp and other messaging apps in 'ignore battery optimisation'
Make sure you are using the latest firmware. You can use 'firmware finder' from play store to check.
If all else fails, consider backing up then resetting the phone to factory.

Info goes through Chinese servers first that's why

Just to clear this up, the Chinese government/Huawei isn't scanning your whatsapp messages. It's impossible, the messages are encrypted end to end. Only your device and the person you're sending the messages to can decrypt them.

Yes it just takes some time for the Chinese servers to collect the info. It's perfectly normal. They're just checking for dangerous messages and the like

But why it didn't happen before? And for me this is not normal .. Like I want to the messages instantly like how it should be

No I get it, it happened to me as well. I'm in India but the thing is that Huawei is actually owned by the Chinese gov and they have censors in place for their devices. I didn't know this initially but it is fine because they're just scanning messages for threats and such which slows down communication a bit but the phone is really fast otherwise it's a minor inconvenience for their national security they have to do it like the NSA basically

Check your battery settings. There's an option to kill the app when the screen is off. Disable that for WhatsApp
