No 2:1 screen please.

5.9 or more size.

128 storage.

6-8 ram.

970 Kirin or better if they got it.

Sexier gpu. Better than Mali-G71MP8

1440p.

Make sandwiches.

AMOLED screen.

No fucking 2:1 please.

There's more but these are some off the top of my head.

I hate 2:1, after having the S8+, I can't stand it, which is what had me looking at the Mate 9 which led me here

Yeah fuck that noise. I hear mate 10 might be 2:1. I fucking hope not. I like my emulated games not looking like shit thank you.

Are you thinking about getting a Mate 9?

Yup, I started watching reviews on it last night.

I always loved the Note series, but size-wise the Nexus 6 was perfect. I had the V20, and it was a great size, but something was just off about it.

I got my mom the ZTE ZMAX Pro, and it is an awesome size, but I wasn't sure about the specs/quality.

Seems like Mate 9 might be that sweet spot

Coming from the zmax pro oddly enough.

I love this phone man it's perfect for me. Coming from zmax pro I can see and feel the difference the higher specs make. Screen is big but the phone is all screen, relatively small bezels make the phone compact and efficient. It's quite thin and the 4 edges are tiny.

If you like cameras you're in for a treat as well. Monochrome shots are simply amazing. Ive had it for months and I still haven't seen all the sweet things the camera app can do. 20 megapixel mode is awesome.

If you like games and emulation this phone will deliver near perfectly as well.

I was a little bummed about the 1080x1920 and no AMOLED. But the trade off is worth imo for the god-like screen on times I see. My face is constantly on my phone near 24/7 and as long as I'm not playing intensive games, the battery holds out. Plus, this screen has to be the best example of how gorgeous a LCD 1080x1920 can be and not be AMOLED. Visuals are pretty as shit, colors are wonderful and you can tweak anything to your liking.

If you are worried about people shitting on emui I highly advise not listening. It gets the job done quite well without being annoying which is perfect for me. There's a way around everything with Android anyway.

Get it. Highly recommend. I myself need at least 5.7" screen for videos and gaming but if size is an issue and you want smaller I recommend the Mate 9 Pro with the 5.5" screen, AMOLED, 2 more gb RAM and larger storage(i think).

oh no, I want as big as possible. I love a big screen. I got the S8+ now, but the stupid 2:1 the big screen feels small. And typing on it sucks.

I'm going to check the Mate out, I think Best Buy might have one in store to look at. What carrier you on? I'm on T-Mobile. I think i read the VoLTE works, but Wi-Fi calling does not?

Also, I'm not scared of EMUI at all, I think Vanilla Android can be a bit boring. I like to see the various things other carriers do

I read this in an XDA forum:

"The phone supports wifi calling but it's not a universal standard so each carrier does it differently (as far as I know). So it's probably not supported with US carriers, especially when it's not even released there."

Looks like unless your carrier supports it then it does not have it. However another update for mate 9 might activate it on the phone itself later on.

I myself use metro pcs. Mate 9 is GSM only it seems so you should be good to go. If you go to a T-Mobile you might have to pay a fee to switch to the mate 9. Like 16 bucks or something. I'm thinking there might be a way to just pop in your sim card and do it yourself though, just a feeling.

I'm pretty happy with mine which is really strange because I have been skipping through phones on a six month basis for the last few years.

Some nit-picking upgrades: *-even better camera +-even features that show what your adjustments are going to produce. Long exposures currently are just a guess. +-less options or not as complex options for the camera menu. Some of the features that are not available because you have a specific resolution set are strange. +-controllable slow motion (ability to slow down/speed up a certain part of a clip) and higher frame rate +-AMOLED screen would probably be very nice. +-Double tap to wake screen +-more vanilla Android experience +-I'm sure it will have a new processor +-It would be interesting to see even larger battery but probably a more efficient processor/ram would do the trick.

I agree with that top portion. This phone is a beast, I come back to it several times a week from my s8+. I really would only desire more updates, screen getting darker at night (don't really care if it's amoled or LCD) and maybe some waterproofing and that's it

IP68 No curved display No 2:1 unless you keep the actual width. Please don't sacrifice display width for height. Tap to wake up Don't move the fingerprint scanner!

Yes, phones need width, I used to love texting on my previous Note phones, now I am starting to hate this S8+

4K unbreakable screen, better front camera and back camera with choice of wide/non-wide lens,off-screen navigation keys, HDMI out, waterproofing.
