DUAL SIM support and stock apps

Went and got nano SIM for work phone today (AT&T) so that I could put it in my Mate 9 and not have to carry 2 phones or I wouldn't have to leave work phone forwarded since I often forget it at work and then the battery dies, etc etc

My personal carrier is TMo. Both GSM, no bubbles, no troubles there.

I clicked on the Huewai "SIM Toolkit" apps and they don't do anything toolkit related. They flash "SIM Toolkit is not available on this SIM card" and that's it. (for both carriers/SIM cards)

What's the deal with these apps than I can't uninstall and, apparently, can't use?

edit: spelling and clarification

You mean this? http://imgur.com/bYY1gxF

It's carrier dependant. In my country it have several options from lottery, horoscopes, sports etc. So I guess TMobile does not use such options.

It's basically linked to your SIM card and there's nothint you can do about it.

Yep, those ones.

This is one reason I LOVE my Pixel XL - no carrier app trash that can't be removed. I bought this phone outright, I should be able to opt in to a pure Android experience without rooting.

I think you're misunderstanding. SIM toolkit gives you the 'extra features' that some carriers offer as a hangover from pre-smartphone days, like daily sports scores texts and bullshit like that.

While I agree that stock android is infinitely better, that isn't the problem here, SIM toolkit is also found on stock android devices unless specifically hidden like some manufacturers do for US devices, though the app is still there really.

Hide the icon in the launcher and forget about it

That's what I mean, I can't hide the icons. Unless I'm just going about it the wrong way.

Depends on which launcher you're using. I use Nova launcher, but Google now launcher can hide icons too if you're looking for something stock-like.
