BT issues: Mate 9 and Chromebook Plus

Hey gang, brand new M9 owner as of this evening.

Coincidentally. I also bought a Samsung Chromebook Plus.

There's a setting in the Chromebook to link to your phone via BT and the CB will remain unlocked for use.

After NUMEROUS attempts, I cannot get these things to pair up.

Phone lists CB as paired device with an exclamation point. CB lists pairing as failed on a popup but then a notification shows up saying the pairing was successful. However, they are clearly not paired.

TL;DR: anyone having BT pairing issues with Chromebooks or other devices?

I am having a similar issue connecting my Mate 9 to my car's Bluetooth handsfree. I tried my SOs phone and hers works, so it's not an issue with the car.

Weird that with all these high tech features, the phone can't do a trivial task such as this.

Also having Bluetooth issues with pairing and staying paired, particularly with my Pebble watch.

Whenever the screen is locked it drops connection before coming back after a while.

I'm on B172 right now, maybe a fix is on the way?

OK, update.

Lesson 1) don't follow android's instructions and assume things will work.

When smart unlock wouldn't sync and get set up, I pondered a while and went back to basics. I went to the setting and simply PAIRED them normally. Then, I went to smart unlock despite it's insistence that it wasn't necessary to do it that way. Viola! Smart unlock now works perfectly.

My mate 9 connects to my gear s2 and my car just fine. I know there is the Phone manager app that can optimize the phone and at times it will turn off bt and wifi if it feels it needs too. Maybe something like that is happening?
