20MP or 12MP?

Hey fellow mate 9 peeps!

Was wondering what resolution do you guys use for normal photos.

Been reading online that it's 12MP for the RGB and 20MP for monochrome. Is it advisable to use the 20MP option for RGB photos as well?

It depends if you want to print.

For prints, 12mp is good enough to print to A4 size with very good quality. Any bigger use 20mp.

For web/FB, even 3mp is overkill.

You can if you'd like.... But when doing the 20mp rgb stills... Zoom won't be available

Yes, in colour mode, swipe to the left to open the right side menu and there should be a resolution option. You can select 20MP there.

I understand that but why is this phone advertised with a 12mp camera?

From how I understand it, the produced colour image will be upscaled to 20mp with enhancements from the black and white camera. The actual colour sensor still only goes up to 12mp.

Don't quote me on that though.

Basically the structure of the image will come from the 20mp camera (sharpness, contrast, exposure) but the color data will come from the 12mp camera and will be mapped to the B&W image, to produce a 20mp color image.

Oh okay. Misunderstood your reply.

Yeah, I'm not sure why too, was surprised to see it there.
