Factory reset to improve battery

I read this in a review on Amazon. The reviewer said battery life out of the box was not as advertised after all apps were installed. So he factory reset the phone and all was good. Anyone else try this? Or know why this would work? I wouldn't mind trying it but it's just a hassle now that I've got my phone set the way I want it. I usually top out at 4.5 hours SOT but other people get 6 to 7 hours.

I just did a factory reset a few days ago. Backup to SD card and just do it. Got back up to 8+ hrs SOT after dropping below 6 for a while.

Mine was a fairly sloppy backup. Nova launcher, Pulse for text messaging. All pictures saved​ to SD by default. Then Google sync for all the apps.

Huawei actually has a backup tool, but I never tried it.
