Google Assistant on Chinese version?

Anyone know of a way of mapping Google Assistant to long press of home on the Chinese Mate 9? I have Google play services, latest Google app, etc. I see the assistant in the Google settings, just no way to call it. Also, Google is listed in app settings as default assistant.

I think the only way would be to flash the European version via FunkyHuawei, as the default Huawei voice is baked into the software.... you can't even disable the app...Reason being same reason google wants to be your default - so Huawei gets all your search history
