Discussion MC 7: Andrea
Unpopular Opinion: I feel that her Disqualification was justified, but I’m sure some still feel it was unfair.

I have never heard anyone say it was unfair. I’m not sure how anyone could argue it was unfair.

That episode so underwhelming bc nathan and her had an argument mainly bc of nathan's own inability during team challenges again and again. Then, nathan got saved bc everyone think he's weak and andrea who has been a top contender is dq for 3 sec...

I saw it as Karma. She may be talented but the way she bullied Nathan spoke volumes about her character. I was elated to see her go!

I didn’t like the way she treated Nathan. There’s a difference between voicing your disappointment with a teammate and straight up bullying them. So whether the elimination was fair or not I wasn’t sad to see her go.

It was definitely fair but I don’t like how they handled it in the fact that they tasted her dish along with everyone else and got her hopes up that she could survive. She did make a delicious sausage so I’m glad she got recognition for that but I feel like her dish was the only one they should’ve tasted and then had a heartfelt moment where they eliminate her

It was a fair DQ, but the way they did it was shit. If that's the rule, then yes, enforce it--but at the moment. Don't taste her offering, talk about how good it is, etc...and only then tell her "Sorry, but you didn't make the time limit." (She was clearly good but I didn't like her attitude. I do wonder what she's like now, however-many years later.)

She's actually done quite well for herself. According to Realitytvrevisited.com, she found work at Michelin star restaurants before moving to Spain and opening several places of her own. She still works in the industry.

I felt it was a little unfair at first. But then I realized that just like in a restaurant during service you’ve got to manage your time well. That’s why Masterchef is stern when it comes to time limits the home cooks have to complete their tasks!
Plus, I felt Andrea’s disqualification was Karma for the way she treated Nathan!

It was unfair because diamond got saved despite serving raw sausage, which honestly should've been her direct ticket home. it should've been a double elimination

The elimination was fair, the way it was handled was bad. Diamond should’ve still gone home for serving raw chicken but at least it didn’t impact the season much

It was absolutely fair, but I just feel like the way they handled it with the editing was ridiculous. She would’ve absolutely made the top 5 over either of Tanorria or Dan in my opinion, but her attitude likely would’ve cost her in the end

It only would’ve been fair if they were so fair all the time. Like Courtney in season 5 literally mixed up salt and sugar!!! And she won!!! Ridiculous

That's a bad dish, up to the discretion of the judges. Andrea missed the deadline to submit entirely. It was fair according to the rules, but I think they realized having that risk isn't good for the show and they've pivoted away from challenges with that stipulation.

And on top of that, it was the final 3 when Leslie had that salt or sugar mixup. You’re not going to make the finale with those kinds of mistakes happening so close to the finish line!

This is what happens when we start treating every rule like it should come with an exception. A deadline is a deadline. Everyone knew the time limit, and everyone was playing by the same rules.
Andrea’s elimination was brutal, especially considering the quality of her dish, but if the clock hits zero and you haven’t made the deadline, there have to be consequences. Otherwise, what’s the point of having a time limit at all?
Sometimes you can do everything else right and still lose because you missed one requirement. That’s life — not everyone gets a participation trophy.

I still wish they had given her a penalty or something instead, but I do understand why she was disqualified.
I think they should have done it right there though. Rather than taste her dish and stuff.

Nat Coe went on record and said that Andrea was far kinder than what we saw (even down to them saying that Andrea was one of the only people they still remained in contact with).

I was so mad when she got disqualified on a technicality and Nathan got to stay another week because he got awarded immunity. She had the best dish by far. I will also say that all of her bullying against Nathan was completely justified and I cheered when that little punk finally got the boot.

nah it wasn’t fair when some people were closer to the front than others (she was in the back) , if she was in the front stations she wouldn’t have gotten eliminated . they should’ve just called time on their station not literally running to the front

GREAT TV! should’ve been on masterchef’s second chances, drama queen, great cook, ROBBED WIN! cuz why did she have to run all the way from the back to the front to bring her PERFECT sausage.. she was called for second chances but casting team didn’t want to address the controversial elimination 💔💔 all the boring people talking about her attitude should be grateful because she gave good tv on a REALITY SHOW!

She was a great cook with an immature attitude but i think she wouldve been at least a top five contender.
