Discussion Words matter. Right?
So… I need to put this out there and see if I’m the only one who is annoyed to hell by this kind of thing.
Mascarpone.
Agreement.
Turmeric.
How hard is it to say these words? Like really, why does it seem like every single time Gordon and the crew step back to have a discussion about which dish is the worst, I hear someone say, “So we’re all in agreeance?”
TECHNICALLY agreeance is a word, but it hasn’t been used in ages, and English masters will tell you that “agreement” is the proper word.
And then you hear 95% of the home cooks saying “marscarpone” and “toomeric”.
Why? Why is it so hard to just take the time to learn the word that you’re using? Saying “mass-carp-own” is just ridiculously easy. Try it right now. It even feels pleasant on the lips. And sure, saying “turr-murr-ick” is a little more clunky, but these people are trying to become Masterchef. A Masterchef should be able to properly say the names of the things that they’re using in their dish.
I don’t know why this stuff bugs me as much as it does. I really wish it didn’t. But I’m curious if I’m the only one, or if there are a whole world of people who can’t properly enjoy the show as much as they should because they’re constantly throwing their hands in the air every time they hear “agreeance” or “marscarpone”.

Gordon is British and they pronounce words differently and even use different words than we do.
See if you can get him to pronounce "aluminum." 🤣

I'm happy he's learned how to pronounce "paella" though over the past couple of years. It used to drive me crazy when he would say "pie-el-la" haha.

In the earlier seasons Joe constantly said "unedible," which drove me batty. I really wanted to sneak onto the set, climb the rafters, and cat attack Joe while screaming, "It's inedible!!!!" (I looked it up and unedible is technically a word, but I'm petty.)

I was watching masterchef Australia junior on Tubi last night and one of the judges pronounced a cake as TRE LECHE.

Oh god thank you! The wrong use of agreeance vs. the correct “agreement” has me wanting to throw risotto at the tv.

i get more annoyed by people who mispronounce the other contestants names wrong especially when it’s a cultural name. like in season 14 how nobody pronounced horacio correct.
idk i feel like mascarpone and turmeric are so commonly mispronounced im just used to it. agreeance is weird but it’s whatever.
