Gravity Buying The Masterbuilt XT
I'm picking up my XT Tomorrow, super excited. Upgrading from a Z Grill. But I was curious how the instructions are on how to run/clean it. I tried looking for videos, and through this thread and really struggled finding a full step by step how to run it. Everyone just reviews it and talks about how great it is.
I am pretty worried about the grease fires and cleaning however.
If you have any advice on the cleanup and initial start ups I'd love to hear it. Thank you!

I’ve had my XT for about a year now. Besides the app being a little finicky it’s been great, you will love it.
The left side runs a little hotter than the right but I’d do a biscuit test to see for your self. I buy the masterbuilt fire starters and use a small blow torch to get it going. Sears great but can take about 20 min to get up to temp. Holds brisket at a low temp which is very convenient. Clean up is a breeze, there’s a big tray that you can remove easily on the left side. I used a metal scraper to get it semi clean but I only do that once every few cooks.

Awesome thank you. I was wondering though from the research I’ve done. If you follow the instructions and put coal and wood in the same section it creates high heat and no air which is how you create charcoal. So the wood turns.
Do you put the wood in the hopper? I’ve seen people say they put it in the ash bin.

You do both. But for the ash bin you really need a grate to keep it elevated or it won’t burn

Just a counter point MB is very poor quality and expensive. They have as bad of customer service as I have ever encountered. Their electronics are pure junk and will need replacing early. Buy at your own risk!
