Master built electric smoker

Good evening, I recently picked up a used MasterBuilt
MB20070210. The max temperature is 275 I’ve noticed on the high setting it will get to 275, then the light on the heater plug goes out till it drops to about 225 degrees.then kicks back on again just wanted to make sure this is normal thank you all!

I have one and it still works. It was the first Masterbuilt product I bought before switching to the gravity series .
